“Great Hotel”
This hotel is fantastic, the staff are wonderful and service is excelent. there is a free shuttle bus to go into the main part of Melaka, and ocean view rooms look over the Straits of Melaka. There is some construction work taking place between the hotel and the water, but it was not intrusive. Hopefully this will not change in the near future.
“Difficult to fault it. Don't look anywhere else”
Very well maintained hotel overlooking the Malacca Straits.Lovely room, and public areas and large pool/gym are great too. In many ways an advantage in being away from the centre of town, but it's15 mins walk away and with no obvious quickest route.Very handy for the shopping mall. We paid extra for the breakfast, but couldn't believe how little we had to pay----and it was a great breakfast buffet.
“A pleasant hotel”
The staff at Holiday Inn were friendly. It made for a very pleasant stay. Crossing the road to get from the hotel to Mahkota shopping centre is a bit dicey. However, if you use the underpass, life is made much easier.
“Excellent Hotel, Great Staff”
We had a very pleasant stay at this hotel! Upon arrival we were provided with welcome drinks. The staff were very friendly right from the parking attendants to the reception desk. Concierge were also very helpful and ready to provide any directions that we needed. The hotel's location was quite good. It took us about 15 minutes to walk to Jonker Street (at a leisurely pace) and Mahkota Parade shopping centre was only a 5 minute walk away. After a long day traipsing around Malacca, nothing was more important to us than a good night's rest in a comfortable bedroom and Holiday Inn really delivered on this account! The bathroom was great and well-equipped with a range of amenities, soft and firm pillows were provided, and powerpoints had international adaptors built-in. If you are looking for a pleasant and comfortable hotel from which to explore Malacca, Holiday Inn ticks all the boxes.
“Great Hotel”
Nice size modern rooms. Straits view worth the extra few bucks. Great big pool with infinity edge towards straits. Buffet breakfast and a lunch terrific. Friendly, fairly convenient shuttle to mall or central attractions. 2 hrs of internet,,,,if wireless, in public areas and have to get a new code once expired but never a hassle to do it. Taxi from airport was 159 RM and hotel charges 180 RM but their contracted taxi was much roomier, modern and felt safer...worth the "splurge". Location OK, can walk to restaurants and mall by crossing North under or cut through neighboring hotel to get to traffic light and mall !
“Will definitely return to this hotel - excellent”
We lived in Malacca for many years and went back to meet up with old friends and enjoy! This we did and the hotel certainly made the trip worthwhile. We requested an early check-in after all night flight. This was accommodated. Suggest travelers choose a Straits View room as it's so quiet and you look out on to the water and down on to the pool. Staff so friendly and helpful and the downstairs bar make the best latte we have had in years - anywhere! We entertained some local friends there and they too were impressed with the place. Two minor downsides - no free WIFII in rooms, i'net connection not too good at times, but staff up in the room in less than 5 minutes and sorted the problem immediately. This only happened twice. Second downer is the cost of bottled wine is far too expensive, more than double the price in supermarket for cheap Chilean wine. This could be much less and hotel still make a profit. Would not even think of staying anywhere else whilst in Malacca. Hopefully we will be back again next year.
“Your money's worth.”
This hotel is excellent for it's 4 star rating.Good and friendly staffs.Breakfast buffet is excellent with both Malaysian and Western food.Their hainnanese chicken rice is exceptional. We had a room with Straits view and it's worth the extra.Lots of underground free parking and the hotel location is also very good. Will recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Great Location.”
The hotel was clean, the service was great, the gym had nice equipment with a nice view, the pool area was very nice. Suggest a room with a water view. It's situated across the street from many ammenities, and walking distance to most of the sights.
“Excellent Location”
We stayed for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Melaka and wished we had stayed longer. All staff members were extremely courteous and friendly. Our room was on the 15th floor with views of the Straits - it was so peaceful just sitting looking at the view and sipping on a drink before going out. The bed seemed quite hard when we first tested it but it was very comfortable and we had one of the best sleeps we have ever had. The easy chair and pouffe were also very comfortable. There was a nice swimming pool area and complimentary gym, sauna and spa bath facilities. The location was perfect and we walked everywhere although there was a courtesy shuttle bus available for guests. There was a shopping mall opposite and another on the other side of that. We were a little disappointed that the hotel restaurant was Italian cuisine - we wanted to eat Malaysian food whilst in Malaysia so we had to go to outside restaurants. This was not a problem but we thought it was strange there was no local cuisine available. The hotel will allow you to check out at 12noon, store your luggage and use the shower and change facilities in the pool area to freshen up before leaving for your flight. We chose to pay for a late check out which was half the normal room rate but worth every penny as our flight was not until midnight. We had a great time and would certainly recommend this hotel to all travellers.
“Pleasantly Surprised!”
Stayed from the 10th till the 13th of September 2011. Having stayed in other Holiday Inns around the world, I was pleasantly surprised at the attention to detail this hotel presented. The finishing was excellent, the rooms were cozy and the beds extremely comfortable. The infinity pool was great and the Jacuzzi was relaxing. The breakfast buffet was the best so far that I have seen in Malaysia. The only disappointing was the transport desk next to the concierge. We were conveniently never informed that there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel to the town available. We were made to purchase taxi tickets every time we ventured out. It was only when we were negotiating our destination that we were informed by the van driver about this. Also, we booked a taxi from the Hotel to KLIA and to our dismay, we traveled to the airport without an aircon with two young kids as we did not have a choice due to time limitations and the aircon gave up 20 mins into the journey. I would recommend that guests get alternatives for transportation. The other disappointing thing was the lack of wireless internet in the rooms. All in all, I and my family loved this hotel and would definitely return if my travels lead me here and would definitely recommend it to others especially when travelling with young kids.
