“A good experience”
We located the hotel easily with a little online research. It was easy to find and well placed for all this coast. We had a good room (107) large, airy and very large bathroom and well working shower. There was a small adequate balcony and lovely view out over the gardens and pool. The standard of room cleaning was very good. There was good internet (free Wifi) access in the lounge and bar/breakfast area. It would be a good perk were it available in the rooms. The breakfast was entirely adequate and as described. Nice to be able to relax with the period of time it was available too...until 10 30 which meant no rush to get up when on holiday. The hotel is probably a little past its best but it was relaxed and relaxing. There was nothing to put me off when we were there (late Feb 2010 - March) It was quiet and relaxed. The hotel lobby is comfortable. The small golf course wasn't available because of the very wet winter Spain had received. The surrounding area is residential. We felt we needed the car hire we had although the hotel is right on the coast road and has frequent bus services. There is a good beach restaurant (Triana) close by, walking distance to the beach is fine, good Italian (across the next bridge) Da Bruno, and the El Rancho grill served a very agreeable €17.50 3 course dinner menu. if you are looking for a high energy, all jumping venue then this isn't it but if you are relaxed and easy going and not too nit picky then Hotel Artola was fine.
“Faded charm”
This is a reasonably priced, traditional old style Spanish hotel which now needs some refurbishment especially the gardens and the plumbing. The staff are nice and the continental breakfast is good, but the bar is not open in the evening. Note that it is not where it is shown on the Expedia map!
“Very unwelcoming staff”
I would not recommend this hotel because the person in the reception was rude and unhelpful, so I would not want to come back. Ignoring the person in the reception, I think the hotel is ok for the money, the rooms are clean although you can hear all the noise from the room next.
