“going back next year, without a doubt.”
cannot wait to go back, we went to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and we wern't disappointed, we wish we had booked for longer, the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for us, so helpfull, and very friendly, went out of their way to help us. we only booked b& b but ended up up grading to half board the food was first class, every one catered for.
“Would love to go back again”
We both being profoundly deaf, and communicate by lipreading only, found the manager and staff very helpful and friendly. also ideal location for all amenities within reach. The hotel was also ideally placed for the trips from the small harbour to Valletta and Gozo.
“Would go back”
Service upon arrival was great! Service on the last day was terrible. We asked reception a day ahead to call for a cab to arrive at our departure time...after several phone calls on the day of and 30 minutes after our desired departure time and several smoke breaks by the receptionist - our cab finally arrived. Breakfast is great - a traditional, full British breakfast. Pool on roof top was very nice. Housekeepers come extremely early so if you want to sleep past 8am, better put the sign out. Was very comfortable and liked the location and proximity of food, entertainment, etc. Would definitely do again.
“About average for Malta”
Over all a pleasant enough stay, bear in mind what The Maltese consider 4 star is not the same as our ratings
“Hotel impression”
The first impression I got was that I did not think this should be classed as a 4 star more a three star. The staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean.
“I intend to return”
This hotel is a four star when all the facilities are working, but it is at a two star price.
“a long walk up the hill !”
we arrived at the crown on august 10 ,from the outside the hotel looks ok , specially in comparison to some hotels around it . Stangely loads of teenagers would congregate every night in the reception ( we never found out why). We couldn't find a bar serving alcohol anywhere in the hotel , and the Irish Bar advertised was shut the whole time , the entertainment consisted of 1 man playing a CD !!! . One of the two lifts were out of order , and still was as we left a week later. the breakfast room and food were all very nice , but dont expect sausage and bacon to taste like at home. the room was basic but passable , however we had a strange little seating area outside the room instead of a balcony, which was fairly useless. If you have a problem with mobility this is NOT the place for you , the hotel is impossible to get to without negotiating a series of steps and hills , I am on crutches and i was worn out everyday, and have come home for a rest !!!
“Not really four star as we expected”
Staff were really helpful and friendly, but the shower in the first room was so small we couldn't use it. The second room had no shower, and the cleaning left a lot to be desired. Comfortable beds though, but not what we would call a four star hotel - but convenient, and cheap.
“Poopy smell in the room”
First let me say that this is a budget hotel and I knew that going in. When we arrived it took them several minutes to locate our reservation that had been done on Expedia. They eventually were able to find them and we were assigned a room. The room: I had two twin beds pushed together to make a “King”, this was not all that bad, but there advertisement says it is a “King” bed room. When we entered the room there was a distinct odor of sewage. My wife said what is that “poopy smell”, could never locate the problem and when we told the front desk that said they would check it out (it was never fixed). There was no air conditioning in the room. Once again in there advertisement it said there was and that is why we booked here instead of other budget room that said they did not have air. It did not work for two days. When we complained we were told that it would be fixed, day one - it was not. The next day we complained again and the front desk said it had not been turned on yet. When we told them that there add said they had air and that is why we booked there it was finally fixed. We were traveling with another couple and they brought them a fan, which really made my wife mad. They are not close to anything, the neighborhood is, to say the least, run down compared to other areas of Malta. My recommendation would be to stay in Sliema or Valetta it is much easier to get around there without a car and there is much more shopping and fun things to do.
“not impressed”
this hotel is not 4star,1or2at most.rooms not very nice, everything seems old and tired.food not bad,but breakfast was same thing every day.the sea is a good walk from hotel and alot of steps must be climbed.we love malta, but not this hotel.
