“interesting manila hotel option”
Overall rating for this hotel is exactly right -- 4 1/2 stars. has all the elements of a 5-star, just a little off in some (minor) regards. (there are only 2 real 5-star hotels in manila -- the Pen and the Shangrila Makati). The Sofitel's rooms are attractive and well maintained. And service and food are both good. But what makes this place special (or problematic) is location. It is pretty close to the airport and right on the water and built so as to screen out your views of manila. Beautiful pool and grounds facing the water. I think this is only real resort hotel in manila. Flip side of the location is that you are pretty isolated -- no shops or restaurants nearby, and with manila traffic it can take a long time to get anywhere. So if you are looking for a great place for a romantic weekend or to take the kids or maybe a place for a business conference away from the crush of manila -- this is a great option.
“One of Manila's best hotels.”
The view from my room was great; service was excellent-can't complain. Taxi fare from the hotel was a bit pricey; hence shuttle service to MOA was an added value for money.
“Outstanding Hotel Experience”
We found the Sofitel Philippine Plaza to be excellent in every area. The hotel is impressive and set on beautiful grounds but it is the exceptional staff that really make this hotel! Nothing was ever too much trouble, the staff were friendly and smiling and efficient. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the bed - amazing. Food is top quality with an unbelievable choice. The breakfast buffet has to be seen to be believed. Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel to anyone looking for a 5 star experience in Manila.
“Great Hotel Staff, will book again when I go back. Phenomenom service of staff.”
Got upgrade to VIP and the service was phenomenom even before the upgrade, the hotel staff were excellent. I rate this a FIVE STAR.
“A nice stay”
I highly recommend this hotel. This was my second trip and we enjoyed it very much. The staff is most helpful and friendly and the room was very comfortable. the pool area is one of the nicest in Manila. They normal have a nice BBQ on weekends but bad weather was a problem this trip. The nightly buffet in the main resturant is excellent. I also like the fact that the propert is located away from the traffic and noise. Although you must take a taxi to go shopping or elsewhere it's a short ride to the Mall of Asia or Malate.
“soooo relaxing”
it's good value for money esp if you are looking for a place to relax in Manila, somewhere with a good outside seating by the pool area. Good staff too. They upgraded us when they run out of the regular rooms that we booked. But at first, they put us in a small room with twin beds. The first room they gave seemed tired and dated. But they were glad to change that for us when we were not happy with it with no cost. So they gave us one of the rooms at executive level with a bay area view. We were pleased with the upgrade coz I can see it was one of the newly renovated ones. A very cozy outside bar area too where you can order food and relax.
“I loved it, when I go back, I would definatley go back here.”
This hotel was great, I loved the lobby,it looked very nice and the staff was really great. They really very hospitable and helped me whenever I had a question, with smile on their faces. The room was wonderful, clean when I got there and everytime I got back from a day out, it was always clean. The bed and pillows, were the most comfortable things, the best sleep ever!! I liked the showers and the pool was very pretty. Overall, people coming to Manila, should really stay here in the Sofitel, the only problem I had, was the fares for the taxi's, very small problem, but other than that, best hotel in Manila.
“Very Comfortable Setting”
The hotel is within walking distance of Manila Harbor and aqll the night life of Manila. Very relaxing!
“Can't wait to go back”
The sofitel was excellent in all areas, i stayed in a suite which was very clean and comfortable. I had only two minor problems which were rectified immediately, one with the in room phone not working properly, and one with ants! (my fault for leaving food out over night) All staff were friendly and helpful. The food at the hotel was very good although a little pricey. Recomend getting a suite package which includes breakfast, much cheaper way of doing things. Hotel surroundings were very nice, great pool and outside bar. I will return to Manila and will stay at the sofitel again as i feel it would be very hard to beat!
“I'll be back.”
I like truly enjoyed my stay in this hotel. Everything was truly amazing except for the slow service in the restaurant when you are ordering breakfast near lunch time buffet. But I admit that their lunch buffet is superb though.
