“New Year 2010 Marrakech Review”
The hotel and Marrakech as a whole were outstanding. Nothing was made to feel too much trouble for us by the hotel staff, and they went out of their way to make sure that our holiday was as good as it could be. As two young girls alone we were a little apprehensive about being on our own in Marrakech, but the staff ensured we were well prepared in how not to offend locals and what to expect where. They provided service above and beyond what was required and even helped save us money. The manager and his team, as per the hotel itself were faultless, and I would definitely go back again!
“An escape from the busy streets of Marrakech - Highly Reccomend!”
From the first day we arrived in Marrakech we knew we’d picked the right hotel, it was exactly like the pictures and you really could escape from the busy streets of the town centre. The staff were all very friendly, they showed us to our room and were always there to help. On one day they arranged an excursion for us to the Atlas Mountains (which I would highly recommend) and if we ever needed a taxi they have their own drivers that the hotel can arrange on your behalf. The price isn’t too bad either. The rooms were lovely, all with modern decor as they had been recently refurbished. The pool was gorgeous with four poster beds and also single beds by the side of the pool as sun loungers (and the bar man was on hand at all times for food or drink). The hotel itself was like a castle which had been renovated, and as there are only a handful of rooms you will mainly find couples which made the experience even more enjoyable as it was just peaceful and relaxing. If you don’t mind travelling that little extra distance for the tranquillity you will receive whilst at this hotel then it is definitely worth it. A taxi to the main centre will cost you about 100 dirhams. The food in the restaurant is also relatively priced and very nice, we actually found it nicer than some of the local food you can buy in Marrakech or Gueliz although slightly more expensive. I would highly recommend this hotel; overall it made the holiday experience what it was....relaxing & enjoyable.
“I'd stay here again - without hesitation.”
The staff are fantastic - efficient and willing to help. The location is just outside the bustle of the city, which we found ideal. With the hotel having 30 suites - the pool, bar and restaurant were never overly packed. This hotel is a perfect, relaxing oasis.
“The wonderful La Maison Des Oliviers”
Our experience at La Maison Des Oliviers was fantastic. The hotel staff were excellent, they were friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. I thought the facilities were excellent and there is a handy Youtube clip which gives realisitc footage of the wonderful facilties.
“Great hotel - highly recommend it.”
Marrakech is a busy place, and after spending a day in the Medina and the Souks, it's nice to get back to a hotel that is quiet and out of all way a little. Pool area is really nice. You can only get the Wifi signal in the lobby, the pool, and the restaurant. There was no wifi signal in our room. The hotel offered a shuttle bus to/from the hotel that was reasonable price. Call the hotel the day before you arrive and arrange to be picked up by their shuttle. Taxis from the airport will charge double the shuttle price. From the airport to the hotel should only be 100-150 Moroccan Dirhams.
“Brilliant”
Great Hotel !!! Very friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful and quiet place!!!
“La Maison Des Oliviers”
I have stayed in this Hotel/Riad several times, it is very quiet and peaceful inside, I always stay there a day or two before travelling back to London to relax and unwind, and its a Perfect place to do that.
“Great place, just a bit far out of town”
We were really happy with Maison Des Oliviers, however we felt that being that far out of the city centre meant that there was limited choice for dining and the hotel restaurant, although extremely good, was expensive. They operate a shuttle bus until 8pm which is half the cost of a taxi which is great, but I felt that if we went again I would rather be in the centre of the city where you can just step outside and choose wherever you like to eat. The hotel arranged 2 excursions for us and both were well worth while - the trip to the Atlas Mountains and the "1001 Nights Fantasia Event" great fun, very informative and definitely an opportunity to see the real Morocco. The hotel itself was immaculate and the service was always courteous and helpful so we did really enjoy our stay. If you are looking for a place outside the hussle and bustle of the city then it's the place for you.
“Would go back - but eyes wide open knowing what to expect next time”
Quite a lot in hotel description NOT as detailed upon arrival. Hotel very nice including service, but feel a little let down on certain aspects ie: Out of the 4 pools specified, only 1 usable unless you booked a suite which included it's own pool (quite deceptive),no swim up bar,air con public areas (only bedrooms). Public areas air con were never switched on even with the heat at 53C outside and 40C inside!! Restaurant very limiting as only offered one menu for whole week and was a set price - no flexibility. No elevator, the whole hotel was smoking (not non-smoking), rooms stated that there were kitchens and tea/coffee facilities and separate dining areas, washers/dryers - not so. The main inconvenience was that it was stated that there would be complimentary bottled water. Again - not so - we had to purchase. Bearing in mind it was extremely hot - we were having to purchase 3L each a day which worked out very expensive at the hotel prices. Overall - hotel was very nice, but feel these points need to be changed on details going out to customers as they proved very deceptive.
“Decent hotel - If you can find it !”
We stayed one night during a car trip through Morocco. Using a map and GPS delivered us past a number of hotels to what appeared to be a large vacant urban lot (with sheep and assorted debris) off the main road. After spending much time seeking the hotel entrance and making local enquiries we located an obscured sign beside a gas station. Driving 400 m down a dirt track (past the sheep) led to the hidden hotel main gates. A rain storm meant that the hotel walkways were inches deep in water that had nowhere to go. We politely mentioned at reception that we would have arrived sooner if there was a better sign and were promptly upgraded to a suite. Overall the hotel presented well but was strangely occupied by only a handful of guests (maybe no-one else could find it?) The staff seemed well meaning but somewhat awkward with visitors (out of practice?) Dinner was very good and, given the desired ambience, at an expected price. The buffet breakfast was sufficient. The hotel is located approximately 10 minute drive from the medina. We arrived early at the Saadian tombs to park and were then free to visit the medina, souks etc.
