“Sofitel L'Imperial Flic en Flac”
Sofitel L'Imperial has everything one would expect from a luxury hotel. Superb location on a beautiful beach. Plenty of sun loungers around the pool / on the beach. Many water activities are free - eg. pedalos, Laser and catamarans, goggles & snorkels. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Mauritians are very hospitable. Room quality was excellent - bed extremely comfortable. Many families with young children, and they seemed well looked after On the one negative point, as I had booked only hotel and breakfast, the evening buiffet priced at Rps 1,700 was on the expensive side. Excellent food and I ate there 5 nights out of 7, but pricey!
“Wonderfully relaxing retreat”
Just back from a week at this hotel. It was a wonderful relaxing place to unwind and enjoy. Breakfast buffet was amazing and varied. Declined the half board package and usually had lunch at the beach bar instead. Or walked into the town for a meal. My minibar fridge was not working on arrival, but was fixed promptly - less than 4 hours later I had cold drinks... could have been sooner, but I was out enjoying the beach! Also, was very very pleased with the services of Connections for the round trip airport transfer!!
“Expensive but worth it overall”
The Sofital L'Imperial is a fine hotel that is beautifully laid out and located at the end of Flic en Flac beach which is also stunning. This is not a cheap hotel but the accommodation, location and service do match up to the price. The main restaurant is open air, as are the bars and make for a very pleasant eating and drinking experience. The staff are wonderful and very friendly and willing to help or serve as you'd expect. The only problem is the price of drinks at the Sofitel. We found that few people had anything other than water at dinner and the bars were very quiet in the evening (even for late September). We soon discovered why - the drinks, even a beer from the local Phoenix brewery, are very highly priced and even mediocre wines were over 40GBP/45EUR. Other than that, a great hotel and a very pleasant stay. Flic en Flac is also very central if you want to visit other areas of Mauritius.
“Great place. Great staff! Very caring and efficient. Food $$$$ but cannot be helped.”
Great place. The knock themselves out trying to see that the guests are well cared for. Lots of rain while we we r there. Not the hotel's fault. Flood options are limited. No place for "snacks." All very delicious.
“Good compromise!”
The hotel was very nice, gorgeous beach and gardens. The room was also nice, a good size with large bathroom and a separate dressing room and toilet. The views were lovely from the room (top floor overlooking the sea) the hotel is getting a little bit tired but this is only very superficial and did not spoil our stay. The main self service restaurant was a bit chaotic! Tables weren't cleared and the food wasn't refilled often enough. It just needs someone to organise the staff a little better. The other restaurants were very nice and the food a good standard but you do need to book. As most big hotels the drinks were expensive, I didn't see anyone drinking wine with dinner. They don't seem to mind you bringing your own to the room so maybe that is what everyone was doing! Also it is not far to Flic and Flac to eat out if you wanted to. If you don't want to pay for the really expensive 5 star hotels here then this is a good compromise. Stayed February 2012
