"Having arrived an hour early, I checked in with the staff at the front desk and was so grateful they allowed me to park the car there although I was early. Everything about this hotel is as I had hoped. I’ve traveled to Salem for many years usually annually. The Hawthorne Hotel had caught my eye many years ago, and I finally remembered to book a room there. I’m with my two young teenage granddaughters and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The beds and linens and room were very comfortable. The bathroom is small but very usable. There isn’t a closet, but we were only there for a day so that wasn’t a problem. Every staff member was so helpful in congenial. I will stay there again!"

"The original room we had was reeking cigarette smoke and the bathroom faucet was broken. Also, housekeeping missed our room twice. But we were offered a different and better room and housekeeping finally came to our room on the last night. If not for the helpfulness of front desks Christian and Donald, hot breakfast every day with good variety, pool and 24/7 gun included, it would have been a terrible overall stay."

"We enjoyed our stay at the cove very much. The unit was about as big as my home studio apartment. 2 queen beds in a separate bedroom and another queen fold out in the living area. The bathroom was also spacious and well lit. The kitchenette was great but would be even better if a small microwave was added. The community microwave in the “play room” was better than nothing but a wee bit of a distance for us. The ice machine worked once in the 5 days we stayed. Bought bags of ice at the liquor store a short walk away. We really appreciated the combo for the storage closet so we could grab extra towels, cups and coffee. We’d rather not bother the office folk so it worked out well for us. The office peeps were friendly and helpful and it made our stay all the more pleasant. It was a busy few days at The Cove while we were there. Once a couple of ladies tried to get into our room before they realized they had the wrong room. Two other nights (one at 3am) someone banged on our door then left. We assume it was another case of mistaken room. We enjoyed the outside area with fire pits, bbq grills, a giant jenga game and comfy swinging chairs as well as standard tables and chairs. The upstairs game room was fun, too! Our 9 year old boy enjoyed playing foosball with a Dad as well as the snacks in the vending machine but it really needed refilling. We liked the microwave popcorn but less than 1/2 actually popped. That happens at home, too. Parking was plentiful. Good location."
