The 4-story, 40-room Hotel Astor is located 3 blocks from the beach, and from the trendy cafés and nightclubs of South Beach.
This South Beach hotel was originally built in 1936 and retains many original Art Deco architectural features in the lobby. In fact, the hotel is one of the stops on the neighborhood's Art Deco tour. Of special note is a wall panel next to the check-in counter made of Vitrolite, a special type of pigmented structural glass.
The hotel has a side-garden patio bar and dining area with a soothing waterfall wall. Astor Club Restaurant is located on the lower level and looks out on the patio area.
A total renovation of this property was completed in May 2008.
Rooms
The Hotel Astor has 40 guestrooms. The furniture is custom-designed and French-milled, and room decor evokes Art Deco ocean liner staterooms, complete with frosted glass and faux portholes. Walls are heavily insulated.

“comfort and convience”
Everyone was very good, will stay again there. near to the beach.
“Excellent location and friendly!”
Warm and welcoming. Excellent location, minutes away from South Beach. Friendly staff who went out of their way to assist with requests. Would go back!
“Great Stay”
Great hotel walking distance to all of South Beach but in a quiet section. Staff and restaurant bar were great
“Nice place to stay in South Beach”
We have been going to South Beach for a while and had a hard time finding a hotel that we liked. This trip we stayed at the Hotel Astor and we would stay there again. It was clean, the staff was friendly, efficient and attentive. The water was warm, the a/c worked very well and the commode flushed! (things that weren't true when we stayed elsewhere) And it was close to one of our favorite bars and one of our favorite places to eat!
“Great Experience!”
Even though the hotel could of used some paint and a little fixing up within the rooms, it was a great experience. The beds were comfortable and our room was very nice. It was in a great location, two seconds away from the beach and Ocean drive. Not too close to the noise of South Beach but close enough to not miss out on anything!
“Conveniently located if you need to be around South Beach area.”
Great place to stay in South Beach, in much better condition than other "Deco" refurbished hotels around.
“A very pleasant stay!”
I booked a package and chose this hotel that way. A very smart choice indeed for an anniversary! It was SOBE at its best. In the center of things, and very much a part of the ART DECO experience. The accomodations were excellent. The staff helpful. Their dining tips scored a consistent A+. Among my criteria for selecting a hotel in a touristy area is "quiet". We slept the early mornings away without a hint that the outside world was in full throtal. Enjoy!
“Good, clean hotel”
The Hotel Astor is clean, quiet, reasonably priced, and has a friendly, helpful staff. It's not the most glamorous South Beach hotel, but it is a fine spot to spend your Miami vacation.
“Rare Find on South Beach”
After reading a number of bad reviews from hotels up and down South Beach, we stayed at the Astor on a friends recommendation. It was lovely. Great customer service! Funky yet functional room. Good location. We asked for a quite room so had no problem with street or party noise. Also, the resort fee ($10 per day) was totally worth it because we got towels, beach chairs and umbrellas which would have cost $30 + without. The light breakfast wasn't much, but got us up and moving in the morning and there was a wine happy hour.
“Very impressed!”
The Astor is a very hip, art-deco style hotel with totally updated modern furnishings. Located just two blocks from the beach, but far enough from the main drag to escape all the noise. The activity fee gives you beach chairs and an umbrella, as well as wireless internet access. Overall it is an impressive facility.
