“Beautiful - Great for our needs”
We were staying in Milwaukee for a concert at the Potawatomi Casino. The Astor Hotel has beautiful architecture and is in a very old neighborhood, but it is CLEAN and it is SAFE. The room was outdated and not fancy by any means, but it worked, it was comfortable, and it was clean. We were pleased with what we had. The only thing I would say is that the walls are extremely thin - if you are expecting a romantic evening for 2, don't stay here, your neighbors can hear everything! We truly were happy though with our stay. The people at the front desk were extremely friendly and helpful, and again, the architecture is beautiful. It was fun to stay in a historic neighborhood and historic hotel.
“Milwaukee's best-kept secret.”
The Astor Hotel has been in business forever. It was good back in 1945 when I first stayed there (at the age of three) and it's every bit as good right now.
“Centrally Located Wonderful Old World Boutique Hotel”
My room was ready as told and it was very nice and quiet in the newly remodeled section of the hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The showers were hot and had great pressure. Since it was in the remodeled section it had a flat screen TV, but I could never figure out the HDTV stations as the TV listing in the room had not been updated. Breakfast was included in the little breakfast room until 10 am; nothing special but it had your basic breakfast – cereal, donuts, bread/toast, waffles, fruit, coffee, tea, juice, and water. The hotel had not been updated for either wired or wireless internet connection in the rooms so you had to take your computer to the lobby, which had only one round table, to use your computer; maybe someday they will install internet into the guest rooms. I would definitely stay at the Astor Hotel again as it was within walking distance of most places for sightseeing in the city. The city bus was only two blocks north of the hotel and during the summer, Wednesday through Sunday, there are free trolleys that go around the city; it could be caught a few blocks away to either the east or south.
“Irish Fest weekend”
We have stayed here before and will be back again!
“Enjoyable stay while attend sporting events at U S Cellular arena”
Convenient to the area we visited, hotel was as good as we expected, and will use again when we go to this part of Milwaukee.
“A Lovely Experience”
We were well-treated during our stay. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, from the desk staff to the residents (it's a hotel but you can also rent an apartment and live there) to the folks who maintain the free breakfast. Every time I asked for directions someone looked it up on the front desk computer, showed me what they found and then printed it out. It's a beautiful hotel. It's also very old and faded in some respects but it was comfortable, nostalgic and charming. My only complaint was that the walls were thin and we were treated to shrieks of laughter coming from the neighbor's room until the wee hours. I did not complain to the desk staff but I suspect they would have taken care of it. We were also very aware of a loading elevator down the hall, and some sort of maintenance happening at an early hour one morning. Lots of metallic banging.
“Summerfest conveinience”
The Astor has been fixed up and is pwerfect for the downtown experience. We recommended it highly.

“Affordable Historic Charm”
Wonderful, unexpected find! Within walking distance from the lake! Charming and historic hotel! Great room! Very Affordable - especially considering how great the hotel is!
“WE LOVE THE ASTOR!”
This is an old historic hotel with tons of charm! We love the location, the beds are great and it is right across the street from County Clare, one the best Irish Pubs in Milwaukee!
