“had a great time!”
We had a great time! Myself and 3 other college age girls went down just wanting to get away and be stress free until school started up again. The resort and beach were both wonderful and it was so relaxing. It would be a great place to take children and family. There is always something to do to keep busy, food was great, and drinks especially! The buffet had a variety and was good food but kind of got old by the end of the week so it was nice to make reservations and go to the different restaurants on location.
“Great bang for your buck”
Excellent amenities for the price!
“We will definately go back, wonderful vacation.”
We have traveled to quite a few Islands and this was one of the very best. Staff was very accomodating and friendly. We were extremly satisfied.
“Will definitely go back”
We just came back from Sunset Beach this morning. My family (with 3 kids - 17, 14 &13) was a bit worried reading the negative reviews before we went. Our children and I had a FABULOUS time. My wife was not 100% happy with the cleaniness of the bathroom. But like one review said, you cannot expect a 5-star condition when you paid for a 3-star. ALL the hotel staff members were GENUINELY friendly. We all loved the buffet - good varieties. Among the 3 restaurants that needed reservations, we thought the quality was the best at the Asian one. The beaches were very good. The water was so calm that you could do many water sports safely without worrying about any waves. Good snorkeling on site. There were no vendors bothering you on the beach trying to sell you merchandises or ask you to go for jetski or parasailing, etc. Our kids made many friends of their ages and they spent a great deal of happy time together. Many did not want to part with their new friends when it came time for departure. Their adult only nude beach was very private and not busy. My wife and I only saw the same 2 couples there the whole week. There was a security guard by the entrance to the nude beach that made sure the users were not being bothered by others who were only curious and wanted to look. Our children rated this vacation as their best all inclusive experience when compared to Mexico and Costa Rica.
“very nice”
This is a very nice hotel with a lot of things to do. Highly recomend if you want some time just to relax. The place is beautiful and the Italian restaurant is very good :)
“Value for money”
Beaches were good, the pools were very nice, rooms very comfortable and clean. Drinks specially the alcoholic ones were exceptional and not watered down and lots of variety of food though some were not necessarily my type. Fun and happenings at night too so never a dull moment. It is not the most grandiose place around but certainly value for money.
“Waiting for our next trip”
Everything was great. Really enjoyed the Italian restaurant and the buffet style food. They had something different everyday. I am ready to start planning my next trip there.
“Very satisfied. We'll go back with Friends”
The people who worked there were very kind. being African American I had experienced some black baclash in Jamaica on previous visits. At the Sunset resort Spa the people were truely wonderful A gentleman greeted me with"Welcome home brither," when I got off the bus. I thought that was so real. There set up for bringing in vendors on a one day basis was wonderful and the prices were fair. They could fix the paddles for the ping pong table. The putt-putt golf and the gym were fine. the paddle boats were good. The food was average. The jerk was too hot for my taste but that's no problem. The entertainment was good and energetic. The water was clean and there were no bugs. that is a pluss to my family when we travel. For that reason alone I would go back. Jamaican tour does a decent job getting you to the airport and their people at the hotel were very nice. The improvements in the airport were very nice.
“Great for families with active children!!!”
Sunset Beach is an older property, however is very clean and has been updated. It is highly recommended for children. We were very pleased with the overall value of our stay. The food and drinks were average but quite plentiful. If you are looking for five star dining and service this is not the resort for, However if you are looking for sun and activities the value is outstanding. If you enjoy a nice spa facility the spa services are excellent!!! Oh great steel drum bands!!!
“Exceeded my expectations, planning my next visit!”
I have done a fair amount of travelling and stay in 3 and 4 star hotels and resorts. Sunset is the best value I have had. Staff very friendly and helpful - guest services, housekeeping and activities. I would like to make special mention of the excellent service from the front desk check in/ check out, the bar staff, the buffet and the Italian restaurant. Food in the buffet was tasty with a reasonable selection of dishes and some variation from day to day.. The italian restaurant was also quite good. I found the menu in the caribbean restaurant to be limited. The food at snack grill I understand was also good, with the exception of the hot dogs which I tried and was not impressed. My partner tried the cheeseburgers and said they were great. The rooms were basic but cleaned daily and comfortable. There are many areas along the beach and while a few areas had stones, the areas to the east were clear, sandy and very nice for swimming. Lots of activities throughout the day and shows nightly. The entertainment staff put on good performances. For those who like a lot of nightlife action after 11 pm you may have to go outside the hotel as there is no real disco and dancing stuff. All round a great holiday in a comfortable resort setting. We definitely recommend this resort and plan to visit again.
