“Lovely welcome to Montreal!”
I stayed at this hotel for a few days while I was looking for apartments in Montreal (in the Plateau/Mile-End area). This hotel is very close to Mont-Royal park and right in the Plateau but its not very close to "tourist" locations. It is right on Avenue du Parc which is well-connected to downtown and the Metro by the 80 bus, and its walking distance to Metro (orange line) I got to Montreal very early and the hotel staff were very helpful, letting me drop off my luggage and arranging to have my room cleaned and ready for an earlier check-in. When I came back, the hotel staff were already calling me by name. This continued for my whole stay, I was really impressed. The room itself was spacious and unique, and it was very well maintained and clean. The wireless internet was reliable and the hotel itself was quiet. I did have to walk up two flights of stairs with my luggage, but it wasn't really a problem, as the charm of the older building is worth it. The breakfast was pretty basic, but a nice touch if you need a little something to get you going. There are a lot of restaurants and stores nearby which made lunches and dinners easy, I even opted for a picnic in Mont-Royal park which was lovely. Overall, it was a charming, comfortable place to stay and I felt I got a great deal for what I paid.
“A very nice hotel, especially for the price”
the hotel was rather clean, in a decent neighborhood, and extremely easy to find. The rooms were spacious, with plenty of room to put our things. I was very pleased with my stay here ^_^
“Cute hotel- worth it for the price”
Great location, cute hotel- 10 minute walk to nearest subway. Breakfast is decent- nothing fancy but will work.
“Quiet, Little Hotel”
i thought it was a nice and quiet hotel. the staff was amazing and very helpful. i really enjoyed my stay.
“Best value in town”
This is a small hotel on the edge of the interesting Plateau district and a short walk from downtown. The room was well up to standard and the service was obliging. The only disadvantage is that the four storey hotel has no elevator which might be a problem for some people. A free continental breakfast is included. All told excellent value.
“Great Value- Exceptionally Friendly Service”
This was a well-priced hotel in an ideal location for enjoying the Plateau area and Montreal's many festivals. Walkable to the downtown core, or alternatively a quick convenient bus ride away. Parking was not easy. The hotel offers some at $20 per day. There is limited on-street parking, and I was impressed that the front desk offered tips on where to find some free spots as opposed to simply pushing the paid option. If you are expecting 5 star luxury and an abundant breakfast buffet (as some reviewers seem to have wanted) then you are out of luck. If you want a comfortable room, friendly service, a small, but decent breakfast- and all for a good price in a great location, then this is the choice for you.
“Great location”
If you do not want to pay premium rates for downtown chain hotels, this is a great alternative. A short bus ride from downtown Montreal, and a short walk from Blvd St Laurent, the Plateau Royale is a great option. It is also conveniently close to McGill, which makes it good for parents visiting students. Parking is scarce in this area, so if you need it, it's as well to make the hotel aware in advance. There is no elevator, so be prepared to drag your bags up several flights, or ask for a ground floor room.
“Would go again”
I loved the fact that this hotel as more neighborhood than some "hotel district" either downtown or on the skirts of town.
“Great place to stay”
I went to Montreal to stay for a week, I managed to save some money by finding it on expedia which worked out perfectly. I was afraid something wouldn`t go through because I was not booking it directly with the hotel, but everything went smoothly. I went with my boyfriend and another couple. The staff were great, they even arranged my room to my friend's so we could be across the hall from each other. They said it comes with a king size bed, but it was a bit smaller than a king, but still extremely comfortable. The one thing I would recommend is maybe trying to get a room on a lower floor since there is no elevator. I was on the fourth floor and was panting by the time I got upstairs. It was very clean, very nice room with a TV (although most was in french), and a nice bathroom. Thank goodness they had air conditioning which is so helpful when it`s hot out. At one point the water wasn`t working but it was only for a short time. Its in a great location, right near the mountain. Overall, a great place to stay and it was a lot better than I expected.
“Plateau Royale a plus!”
I had read good reviews and done a lot of research on hotels in Montreal before a trip up there and this one came out on top as far as price through Expedia and customer reviews through 3rd party travel sites. Yes, there isnt an elevator, but Americans are too fat anyway and could stand to take the stairs once in a while. But you can walk and get to a great deal of attractions, cabs (if youre willing to pay the fare) can get you most anyplace else in the area in under 20 min, and there are usually places to park on the streets (although they are mostly metered). The hotel staff went above & beyond, all of the front desk personnel we met were very friendly and extremely helpful. They made our trip better by being able to point out places to go and how to get there. They were also responsive to some complaints we had about noise- unfortunately the walls are thin so you can hear what is going on around you if other occupants are being loud. Bathroom is small, but wasnt really a big deal to us- it was kept clean and new towels arrived daily without fail. I will stay there again for sure when we go back for another all girls vacation.
