“Still great after 30 years”

After a 30 year absence I found the same family still owns and runs this cozy hotel. The only changes were for the better such as a beachfront bar and breakfast/lunch restaurant.My room had a fully equipped kitchen and a lovely patio. Between the excellent breakfasts and daily drink specials at the bar I was assured a pleasant beginning and end to every day I was there. All day the security man is there to deter unwanted sales pitches and watch your belongings while you swim. No phone and no TV in my room was a plus for me. I was happy for the A/C though. Great value. Can't wait to go back.

“DIY'ers”

White Sands is the perfect place to stay if you don't plan on staying in your room much or at the hotel much. If you're more of the go-out-and-explore type person, White Sands does just fine. We actually liked the fact that there was no tv in our room because at the end of the day we were to exhausted to do anything but shower n sleep. Oh, and our room being across the street wasn't bad. it's a 2-lane road n there's moderate traffic on it, which is tolerable. Especially since the locals are really hospitable and polite. There are lots of locals trying to sell stuff along the beach: MUST GET THE $7 LOBSTER! EXCELLENT!

“Great Stay, Wonderful Staff!”

The White Sands is a great little hotel. There is no T.V. in the room and I actually found that nice. The room was very simple. It only had the necessities. The maid-service was great. Everyday they cleaned very well. I was always going back to my room getting sand everywhere and they always had it cleaned up. The bar is great (and cheap!) and the bar staff were all so nice. Especially the hotel security guard. I had no problem leaving my things on a chair and wandering around. The hotel is also in the perfect location because it is right in the middle of seven mile beach so you could walk either way and find new things. The locals were a bit exhausting trying to sell you stuff, I have to admit. Most of the time a "no thanks" will work but some of them were kind of pushy. Don't feel any obligation to buy what you don't want-- you will run out of money fast! I had a great comfy stay. It was very relaxing.

“Simple accomodation on a beautiful beach”

This hotel is perfect if you are looking for silence and peace and if you are fed up with overcrowded resorts. Here you can spend your time on the most beautiful part of this clean beach (no rocks, no shells, no driftwood - just fine white sand), and you have the chance to check out local food and fine dining far away from all-inclusive buffets. If you don't need a TV or hot tub then this is the place to go. It is a simple hotel, but our room was cleaned every day, there was a swimming pool and a ping pong table. The staff was extremely helpful and gave us valuable tips about where to eat and which places to visit and they even drew maps so we did not get lost. We enjoyed our trip and would definitely go back if we'll make it to Jamaica again.

“Excellent Place for the Money”

Though White Sands Negril is definitely a budget hotel, it was perfect for our vacation. You cannot beat the price or the location on Seven Mile Beach! Even though the rooms do not have phones, TVs, or alarm clocks, it was fine because my husband and I were there to relax and get away from it all. Besides, we did not spend much time in our room anyway. I do agree, however, that a TV would be nice if it's raining. We stayed in one of the Standard gardenside rooms. It did not have a kitchenette, but we had a queen bed with two nightstands, a dresser with mirror, a refrigerator, AC, and a lovely private porch where we would eat breakfast. The room was very quiet and we could not hear other guests in rooms next to us. Everything was in great condition but the pool. They are in the middle of renovating it and we were unable to use it. Also, there were ants along a crack in the bathroom floor, but as I understand, ants are everywhere in Jamaica. We felt safe leaving our things on the beach while we went to swim in the ocean. There is always a security guard around. Also, the hotel has complimentary floats/rafts/tubes for guests to use in the ocean. In all, I would definitely return. White Sands is a great place--I felt safe, had AC, had a nice bed to sleep in, and a beautiful beach right in front of me.

“Affordable, with a great beach location!”

Very close to the beach, they have security 24/7, so you can take a swim, without having to worry about your things on the beach. Room had air-conditioning, but we never used it, opening the French doors was just enough. The hotel is located on the 7 mile Negril beach, which is considered to be the prettiest beach in Jamaica and I would concur. We didn’t eat at the White Sands Restaurant, instead we ventured off every night to a different restaurant located on the 7 mile beach. Food is great, almost anywhere you go. I recommend it and would defiantly stay here again.

Convience is key! Everything is walking distance on the beach. The staff is sooooo friendly. There are two for one specials on drinks--always a plus. Loved it and can't wait to go back!!!!

“Great vacation”

This was my second trip to Negril and first time staying at the White Sands. We stayed in a standard garden side room with a kitchenette. We loved the privacy on the garden side. Their grounds are beautiful. Landscaped with all sorts of beautiful tropical plants. The hotel isn't fancy but who cares! You aren't there for the hotel...you are there for the beautiful beach! The White Sands' location on the beach was perfect. Right in the middle of everything. Everyone on staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food at their grill was great and the bartender made very strong, very tasty drinks! The only small issue we had with the hotel was the fact that the bed and pillows weren't the most comfortable. I would simply suggest to bring your own pillow. Everything else was great! We would definitely go back to the White Sands. It was a great bargain for the location and beautiful area of the beach that it sits on.
