“Can't beat it for the price”
Good location, clean rooms. Great room on a budget in NYC.
“As advertised, and inexpensive”
If you're looking for an inexpensive, quiet, clean place to stay in NYC, check this place out. It's on a block next to Riverside Drive, within a block of restaurants, banks, other services and the #1,2,3 subway line (quick to midtown), but no traffic noise (the street dead-ends at Riverside). Rooms are small but not miniscule; my room had a shared bathroom, so the room itself had plenty of space. Everything's neat and clean, but not antiseptic. Bathroom was clean and functional. The desk service was helpful and efficient, not warm and friendly. Highly recommended for utilitarian stays.
“Pleasantly surprised in New York”
Great little hotel. Clean and comfortable room. Good heat! Right next to metro station. Would definitely stay here again.
“Good Hotel for the Budget Minded”
I stayed here two nights, shared bath was never a problem, it was cleaned frequently, and I never had to wait. Take your shower by five a.m. if you don't want to wait. Front desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The one thing I missed was coffee. They only offer coffee in a very narrow window and I never could quite make it. I think it would be a lot better if they offered 24-hour coffee, and Internet in the rooms instead of the dollar for 10 minutes in the lobby they do offer.
“Not too bad for the price”
The hotel was cramped due to the "college dormitory" feel to it. The shared bathrooms weren't bad at all and for the price and the time of year (Christmas) I'd definitely recommend this hotel!
“perfect!”
it was in a great location and very affordable. the staff was extremely nice, especially antonio! this will be the hotel we use every time we visit the city from now on!
“Fantastic value for money”
I booked this hotel mainly based on the cost, but I would have no hesitation in going back. The location up on the Upper West Side gives a real taste of New York away from the tourist side of things. The room was clean and tidy if a little dark and the staff were really friendly. Great for Central Park
“Very impressed, will definitely come back”
Hotel Alexander was excellent. I read reviews that complained about the cleanliness of the hotel, room and noise. But that was not my experience. My room was clean and, more importantly, the share bathrooms/toilets were extremely clean. The hotel cleaners were extremely polite and friendly. I stayed here in late Nov 2009 and I am from Sydney. I would definitely recommend Hotel Alexander as a cheap and surprisingly good hotel to stay in New York. The subway is very close and Times Square is a good 40 minute walk. I walked home late at night from Times Square and it was very safe. There are lots of people at night and you would have to be unlucky to be mugged! Thankyou Hotel Alexander for a wonderful stay. I would definitely come back here in the future
“Very Impressed”
It was very clean, staff was very nice, easy to find and close to train station for easy access to all parts of NYC
“Great hotel for the price”
Great hotel if you are on a budget and don't plan on staying in your room all day (You're in NYC!!!) Maid service excellent! Rooms cleaned well daily. Shared bathrooms kept as clean as possible for the amount of people using them. Other guests pleasant and friendly. Staff very accomodating and helpful. Would stay again!!
