“Excellent hotel in an excellent location, just down from Toysrus of Time Square”
On entering the hotel I was impressed with the welcoming aroma coming from the lobby(from scented candles I think). On check in the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. As I travelled with my sister we booked a deluxe twin room, and it was bigger than I had expected. Having all that you would expect, minibar, safe etc. The only thing lacking was the absence of tea and coffee making facilities. That would have been useful for an early morning cupa to get me going. The bathroom was very fresh and clean. I think that it is the only hotel I have been in where the bathroom does not flood when you have a shower. Well done. The location was excellent as you are in the heart of town and not far from anything. Subway stations only a few minutes walk in any direction from the hotel. Cabs are easy to call, best to go to the corners as you get cabs from any direction. As I went with my sister this time, I am definately going to come back and stay at the Mela with my husband sometimes soon.

“Delightful New York Hotel”
We loved this hotel and will come back again. Great location - close to everything and quiet! Happy helpful prompt service - lovely room (lousey view but oh well). I had an upgrade for my birthday too. Tip: The Red Flame is a block away - great NYC diner for breakfast, lunch or whatever.

The hotel location is awesome, close to Times Square and Bryant Park. It is a great hotel, with great service, very friendly staff and nice and modern rooms (a bit small though). I would definitely stay here again.
“A Great centrally located comfortable hotel.”
Location of this hotel for all the regular sights is brilliant. About 100m from Times square, but on 44th street, which was surprisingly quiet and didn't appear very busy by New York Standards. We had a room overlooking the street and are not used to much noise, but had no problems. Reception was problem free, No airs and graces, polite, very helpful staff at all times. This is the sort of hotel I like, one which doesn't fuss over you with tip hungry staff, they just let you get on with life but if you need help they are there. The Hotel is not flush with endless facilities, except a gym (Didn't use) but bars, restaurants, cafe's etc etc are so handy in the street, that not much is needed. They did have room service but we didn't use it, though it appeared adequete. Romm very clean. Hotel very clean. Could have done with tea making facilities in the room, but we are Engish so perhaps not much call for it. Everything worked, room was OK size wise but could have done with a couple of easy chairs rather than sitting on the bed. All we did though for a 4 day stay was to sleep there anyway. Airconditioning very good but atmosphere very dry, which we are not used to. Would not hesitate to recommend or to use again. If you want lots of doormen, bell boys, chaimbermaids, bowing and scraping then this is not for you. If you want a clean efficient quiet hotel in an excellent location this is ideal.

The room is compact but well equipped and very comfortable, its location is fantastic! right in the heart of Time Square and easy access to the theatres and subway. It's not too far from Rockefeller Centre, 5th Avenue shopping area and Central Park. Check in was efficient and the staffs are all very friendly and approachable. Would definitely consider coming back again!
“Great for first time visitor to New York”
Great location, friendly staff, great bar next door! Room was small(no surprise) so we asked for an upgrade & got a great room at a great deal as we were staying for a week. Also good breakfast at their restaurant. Times Square is virtually 50 yds from the front door and when you return it seems like a small sanctuary from the madness of Times Square!

I absolutely loved this hotel!!! I was prepared for the infamous rude New York service but everyone at this hotel was so personable and very helpful. I will definitely be staying there the next time that I am in NY.
“Perfect for the weekend on a budget without compromise”
Carefully chosen based on location, price (which was excellent for the location) and reviews of others. This was our first exp of New York and we found the hotel extremely good for what we wanted to do. Fantastic locations just 150m from Times Square on a street that was not busy at all. The room was small with not a lot of storage for things we bought and there was no desk/chair which would have been useful for the laptop or eating but other than that we had no issues at all. If you just want a clean and comfortable place to base yourself with good wash facitities then this is perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful which made our stay more pleasant. Extremely pleased overall, I would definately stay there again and would recommend Mela to other travellers in a heartbeat.

Lovely boutique hotel located in prime location for theatre and restaurants. Walking distance to shopping and an Metro ride to museums.
