“Great price and Location”

This hotel is less than a block away from times square. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and very willing to help. The rooms are basic but clean and well maintained. There is no breakfast but the deli next door is very resonable and has a great selection. I definitely would stay here again if I am in New York.

excellent location right on time sq and easy to get to other places. deli and pub next door are great for breakfast and drinks would differently stay again and recommend to all friends and family.

“Great Hotel At Great Price”

The location was convenient for us at a very good price. Was not expecting much because it is an old hotel. It is very well kept up. The rooms and the lobby were very clean. Bathroom was immaculate and well kept up, plenty of hot water and good water pressure for the shower. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Considering everything else, having only one key was a very minor inconvenience. It was a great stay. I will be staying there again.

“Excellent location for the price”

2 blocks from Times Square. Perfect setting for a hotel that you are not going to spend a lot of time in because you are out seeing the sites! All staff was very friendly and able to remember our names and were helpful with directions and recommendations for transportation and restaraunts. Would definately go back.

“Great location”

Location of this hotel is excellent, just off Time Square but once in the hotel room you can't tell your so close as its nice and quiet. Plenty of food places and banks nearby. Hotel was simple and had everything that was essential.

When we were booking the hotel we wanted somewhere fairly central to Times Square that was not too costly. This hotel was perfect. It's quite old fashioned, but to be honest it added to the experience as it was a proper old-style New York hotel. The lobby was very posh and the staff were friendly and helpful (apart from one conciarge who unfortunately didn't seem to speak very good English or have much knowledge of the area....). The location was superb! All we had to do was walk to the end of our street, turn the corner - and there was Times Square! We had a deli right next door and a Starbucks just across the road. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We had room service every day, with fresh towels and toiletries supplied. The only thing the hotel didn't provide was a safe in the room for valuables. On our last day we had to check out at midday (which is a pleasant change from most hotels), and because we had an evening flight we needed somewhere to leave our bags while we went out for the day. The hotel had a designated room with large (suitcase-sized) lockers to store your bags in. I thought this was excellent as i've never seen these in a hotel before, and it meant we could go out with peace of mind that our belongings were safe. Overall, very very impressed with the hotel. So pleased we booked there. And if i'm ever lucky enough to go back to New York, i will definitely stay at this hotel again :o)

“Well impressed”

You cannot find a better hotel to stay in than St James, ok it not the most modern hotel and the radiator played a bit of a tune at times, but it added to the fun! The receptionists are very helpful and is manned 24 hours. The room was very clean and maid service was done everyday. The hotel is central to everything, you only need to walk to the bottom of the road and you are in Time Square. There are 2 deli's next door which is handy as there is no room service at the hotel, and the street the hotel is on has very good Irish Bars. The hotel has everything you need when visiting a city like New York.

we picked this hotel because of its location and we were not disappointed. for a low cost hotel you could not get a better location for central manhattan. 3 minutes walk from times square and most of new york's most famous sites were within walking distance.if we get to new york again we will stay here.

“A steal in NYC!”

I will definitely be returning the the St. James. The room we stayed in was immaculate- and the most spacious I've stayed in while in NY. The bathroom was luxurious by NY budget hotel standards. The hotel seems to have been newly remodeled and is very clean and charming. I would probably request a room toward the back of the hotel next time as the street can be noisy, but hey, it's New York! If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. Location is excellent for those who want to experience the theatre, Rockefeller Center, all midtown has to offer. Staff was accomodating-allowed us to store our luggage post check-out. If you are looking for a reasonable, comfortable & clean place to stay while on business or exploring the city, this is a great hotel. If you are coming to NY to stay in the hotel, stay home!
