This landmark Art Deco building is one block from United Nations Headquarters in a relatively quiet residential area of Midtown Manhattan's East Side. Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center are six blocks away. Greek symbols denoting the building's 1929 origins as a house for newly graduated sorority women can be spotted on its decorative façade.
Beekman Tower Hotel offers a 26th-floor restaurant with two outdoor dining terraces affording spectacular views of New York City and the East River. The complimentary fitness center provides saunas. Meeting and banquet facilities include a 1,450-square-foot ballroom filled with natural light. The hotel welcomes pets.
Rooms
This 26-story New York hotel offers 173 studios and suites, all with wireless Internet access (surcharge). Generously proportioned accommodations, ranging from 300 square feet to 1,100 square feet, reflect the building's origins as apartment-style housing for sorority women. Views are of the city or surrounding buildings; some overlook the East River. Decor includes warm pastel pinks, yellows, and greens, complemented by dark-wood furnishings and abundant natural light.
Some rooms have kitchenettes with dining counters, four-burner stoves, microwaves, and mini-refrigerators. Others are outfitted with full kitchens: full-sized refrigerators, stoves with ovens, microwaves, cookware, dishes, counter space, and dishwashers. Most rooms have sleeper sofas. Most bathrooms are shower only.

“The Best Stay in New York City”
We knew the hotel was older but wanted the extra space rather than the usual cell block you would get in New York. Yes it was older, but the service and location right down from the UN building was absolutely outstanding. The service people there bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable. Anything we asked for they provided with a smile. I loved the space that enabled my daughter and I to stay comfortably for 8 days. If you dont care about the newest and best and want a comfortable large rooms that you are not paying a fortune for you had best stay here. We loved the fact we could either choose to cook our own dinner in the kitchen which we did sometimes or go out. It made living in New York much more reasonable. Access by bus or cab or subway was easily available anywhere in the city. We saw so much in the 8 days we were there. I would highly recommend this hotel.
“Far from the maddening crowd.”
The Beekman Tower is perfect for those who do not feel compelled to do Times Square in order to get a great NYC experience. For that, I am extremely grateful. Their absence allows me and others like myself to enjoy the feeling of actually living in the City instead of a mere tourist. Having a suite with kitchenette is like being at home but better, and I love the rooftop restaurant and lounge. I am always welcomed back with open arms by the doormen, who remember me even if I haven't been to the City or able to book into the hotel for more than a year. My only complaint is that it is too hard to leave. A part of me always feels lonely when I go away, leaving me ever anxious for a hasty return.
“Exceptional Stay”
I've stayed at the Beekman Tower before but my most recent visit was quite exceptional. I was upgraded to a suite that was roomy, comfortable and clean. The furniture is dated and a bit frayed at the edges but the bed was not, and that's the crucial piece of furniture. The staff was competent and helpful. When comparing the Beekman Tower with hotels in a similar price range, I will now opt for the Beekman every time.
“Would stay again”
Staff was very helpful and caring.
“A good value in New York”
The Beekman Tower offers mini-suites that are a good comparative value in Manhattan. It is conveniently located near the United Nations and is a well-preserved and updated art deco hotel.
“Wish I'd discovered this gem sooner”
The staff are courteous; the rooms are roomy. Twas clean and comfortable. Highly recommend it. Clearly excellent value for the rate.
“Lovely visit”
The suite was large, comfortable, and well-equipped. The view from the restaurant on top of the hotel is a special treat. The location was slightly out of the way for us, but since cabs are plentiful and affordable in New York, it wasn't a problem. I highly recommend this hotel.
“Good east side option in historic deco building”
I was pleased by most aspects of this hotel, and chose it mostly for its far-east midtown location. Comfortable, quiet enough, efficient. A bit frayed here and there, and a small bathroom--rather Euro. Only disappointment: "booked" a non-smoking room and got one with ashtrays. Some things never change . . .
“Would stay here again”
After reading mixed reviews about this hotel, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. We were quite pleased with our room, the hotel and location of hotel. The hotel is old with worn carpet in the rooms and dated furniture, but it wasn't bad. My mom was with us on this trip and I requested a smoking room for her. Upon checking in, there were no smoking rooms available. The manager said he could put her in a smoking room the next day, but wasn't able to, so did so the third day. Also, her air conditioner didn't work, so her first night's sleep was uncomfortable. We reported the broken air conditioner, and it wasn't repaired until later in the evening. There's a nice deli and a good restaurant right across the street with a good selection of food. Grand Central is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Aside from the issues with my mom's room, everything else was great. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
“Having a lovely apartment like setting in the Big Apple”
I enjoy staying at the Beekman since I can entertain family and friends in the spacious living room/dining room before or after we venture out in the city. I have stayed here twice and highly recommend it. I love the location since it feels more like the "real" New York in a great neighborhood with locals, internationals and tourist in a varied mix.
