“Treated like a friend”
Don't know if I could expect such gracious service each and every time, but for the duration of my recent stay at the Washington Jefferson I was treated like a visiting friend...lots of genuine smiles, great restaurant advice, and gracious assistance. I would absolutely recommend this hotel even without the triple-A treatment, though, as it was conveniently located close to Times Square and Restaurant Row in Hell's Kitchen. Plenty of sight-seeing, good food and nightlife. Also, the room was an absolute delight...tiny but spotless, classy and thoughtfully appointed. Comfy snow-white comforter on a firm bed, extra lamps right where you need them, better-than-they-have-to-be soaps & lotions. I felt like I was in a luxury/boutique hotel, but at a very value-rich budget price! Kudos!
“Brilliant - Washington Jefferson Hotel”
Stayed here in January, took a twin room with a friend. The room was clean and comfortable, bathroom was excellent, and staff were very helpful throughout, even after we had checked out. Was very close to Times Square, Empire State, Central Park, and we were able to walk everywhere barring the far South of Manhattan. Would use the Washington Jefferson again, and would recommend to anyone.
“Great Hotel and would love to go back”
This was our first trip to New York and we were not disappointed. The hotel is covenietly located close to Broadway and Time Square. We had read other reviews stating that the rooms in the hotel were very small even for New York standards, so we were pleasantly suprised to be given a free upgrade on our arrival to a deluxe twin room. Our room was a comfortable size with enough space for 2 people to move round. We had no problem with the temperature unlike other people that have left feedback. The hotel was always very clean and the staff were always very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic time and would love a return visit.
“Fantastic Hotel”
I really enjoyed my stay at the WJ. Sure, the soom was small, but not uncomfrotably small, after all, I was only in my room to sleep and shower. The bathroom was modern and came with lovely toileteries and a hairdryer. The bed was comfortable and I love the down filled comforter and pillow. Made those coldwinter nights more enjoyable. The hotel is close to everything - I walked to theatres, Madison Square Garden, Lincoln Centre, Empire State Building and Central Park, but far enough away to be quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. The WJ is close to many subways for quick easy access to other parts of the city and restaurants and bars. There is even a supermaket and drug store around the corner for those essentials you always run out of or forget. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed my stay and will definitely stay there again.
“Great location, cool staff”
I took the red eye from California to the Washington Jefferson hotel, and this was the perfect hotel for the trip. The staff was extremely helpful and knew ahead of time what I was going to request. Great location too and lots of good restaurants nearby.
“Very Impressed”
I was very impressed with my short stay. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a fantastic location in the theater district. The room was cozy (small)... but that is not surprising in NYC. I plan to come back again!
“Good, clean & reasonable rates”
This is a very conveniently located hotel, near Times Sq., the theater district, Restaurant Row, Lincoln Center & various subway lines. It's clean & well-staffed.
“BEST hotel!!”
My friend and I went to NYC for the first time two weeks ago, hearing that all the less expensive hotels were tiny and noisy and overpriced. I picked the W Jefferson after having read tons of reviews for tons of hotels and all I can say is that our stay was PERFECT! We were greeted at the door, the bellman suggested places for us to go (day and night), was extremely friendly, the bed was SO comfy (the room isn't big but do you really go to NYC to sleep? no. but even when we slept we slept well). Front desk was very friendly, our rooms were spotless all the time. Location is the best - you're one block away from the theatre district and three away from T-Square (yet there's barely any noise). Bottom line is that this hotel is highly recommended, unless the size of the room is of crucial importance to you.
“Great staff, made sure everything was right.”
Had a problem where we paid extra for a pull out sofa bed, but we weren't supplied pillows or sheets. When I went to the from desk to ask for these items, I was met with a bit of a snooty attitude and told that I should have asked for them earlier. I had assumed that beds come with pillows and sheets, especially when extra money is charged. The sheets were quickly brought to the room, and the next morning we were presented with roses and chocolates, a nice note and two voice mails apologizing for the error. In all, they made up for the small oversight. Hotel was very close to Times Square, Broadway theaters and public transportation, it was an outstanding location. Again, the staff was super.
“Small Rooms, but great hotel and great location”
The room was small but the bathroom was renovated with slate tiles and updated/modern sink, faucets, mirrors and lighting. They brought a refrigerator at no charge within 10 minutes of my request. Great location. Walk one direction get to Central Park. Walk another direction get to the Piers, walk another direction get to Rockefeller Center, and walk the other (more popular) direction and get to Times Square. I'd definitely stay there again. Customer service was excellent. The neighborhood could have used some cleaning, but the same can be said for all neighborhoods near Times Square due to the tourists.
