“Good hotel, a bit far from downtown if you plan to go there a lot”
Excellent hotel. Room was clean, comfortable, and of a good size (I had a double double as I was sharing with a friend). The bar had a lot of different beers, and its staff were friendly; I only ate there once but found the food to be satisfactory. Breakfast was good, but the service was a little slow, but I tended to go to a family cafe just around the corner in the morning. I chose this hotel as I was visiting friends who lived in Forest Park, which was a very short taxi drive away. I ended up getting a lot of taxi's bin and out of downtown whilst doing some of the more touristy things, and at about $35 each way, I spent a lot of money on this. It's about a 25 minute drive from Downtown.
“OAK PARK: Great history, beautiful gardens, good eats and shopping, safe.”
The main area and entrance reminds be of a traditional London hotel. It is absolutely beautiful. It is two blocks from the Green Line (Rapid) that goes right to the loop. No driving. No parking. Oak Park is a beautiful community steeped in history, including the lives of Ernest Hemingway and Frank Lloyd Wright.
“Great hotel in a nice neighborhood!”
Very nice hotel. Close to the train and surrounded by a nice set of stores and restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable. We plan to use the Carleton again!

It was a VERY comfortable night spent in a very beautiful hotel, close to the "L" and easy access to Chicago...with free parking:)-What more could you ask for?
“Just Right”
We stayed in one of the motel rooms at street level. Our room had a table and chairs and kitchenette. We walked to Trader Joe's for breakfast and cocktail hour foods. We walked to all Frank Lloyd Wright attractions as well as the EL. It was a perfect choice for us. Poor Phil's restaurant was just right too.

We again had a nice stay once again. We are return customers and would certainly be willing to stay here again. My wife and I recommend this hotel.

Loved this hotel! Clean, older but very nice. The area surrounding the hotel was a wonderful neighborhood and felt homey. The restaurants were good and the atmosphere was great with their outdoors dining...Definitely would stay there again, everytime!
“I would definitely return”
I just spent 3 nights at the Carleton of Oak Park in chicago. We were very confortable , loved the neighborhood. safe, clean, nice, and close to the El train to downtown. We would stay again for sure, but do wish there were more reasonable rates available, there and elsewhere in Chicago in the summer.
“Nice hotel, nice area”
The hotel and surrounding area were both nice. It was conveniently located by the El, and the trip to downtown Chicago was only about 25 minutes. Would recommend.
“Great Location!”
Just a short walk to CTA station..motor lodge had updated 50's decor...cool and comfy. Would definitley stay again for time in Chicago!!! Great find!!!
