Although the owner was lovely and the room was clean, this is not somewhere I would recommend.
The "beds" are thin mattresses on the floor and the pillows are sand bags! It made for some very uncomfortable sleeping and sore muscles in the morning.
There is no atmosphere and the only cooking amenity is hot water for 2 minute noodles. No one uses the common room as it is the lobby, and the owners desk area.
Showers are limited to specific times of the day and are timed and the toilet floor is constantly wet.
If you can avoid it, stay at one of the other hostels!
First of all the positive; the owner (or so I assume) was really friendly and accommodating and had excellent English which is an unexpected bonus. The negatives however, it says japanese style room. It doesn't specify the bathroom sitatuon, I can confirm it is all shared. We have stayed in ryokans and sleeping on a paper thin mattress on the floor with nothing else and a pillow marginally bigger than my head is not this. The worst nights sleep of my trip for sure, we had 2 nights here paid for and left first thing in the morning after 1. The room was also smelly and poorly aired out - opening the window resulted in a fairly unpleasant food smell (not the hostels fault). You might argue that you get what you pay for but this is one of the most expensive places we stayed in our 4 weeks in Japan. My first and probably only review on hotels.com but the current score on here is pretty laughable and I wanted to make sure people keep their expectations reasonable, because mine were clearly not.
It's a hostel, so bring a towel. Nice, clean, friendly staff

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Room comfort
great service but small uncomfortable room
The manager of the hostel was lovely and accommodating however the accommodation itself I don't think was very good value for money. The room was meant to be a double room however was so tiny that we couldn't fit both futons on the floor. The floor was a special korean heated floor which is probably great in winter but was so hard, the futons provided little comfort. The pillows were terrible and it was probably the worst 2 nights sleep of our lives!! However the hostel was extremelY clean and well cared for and we found the service to be great. The location wasn't the greatest and to call it "Namba" is a bit of a stretch. I would probably only recommend to travelers staying in the dorm rooms as they seemed more spacious and had bunk beds so probably are a bit more comfortable.
