“Quick Experience in Penang”
We went to this hotel only for one night. It is a good hotel which has a small beach but you cannot swim there. There is a very small island that the hotel planted with flowers near the beach that you can reach when the tide is low, it is a nice place to take photos. The room is very good with an LCD TV and Astro. It is clean. oh, the food they have great great Saturday BBQ open buffet dinner, do not miss it! The Indian supervisor who is taking care of seating the guests, is a very good man that tries to make you satisfied. So overall I would go to this hotel again if I have the chance.
“A Great Place to Stay.”
This is a good hotel.I dont know why it receives so much criticism?The seaview is superb,the room is comfortable,very clean.The beach was good for swimming everyday,the pool is clean.Apparently the hotel is closing in July for a major renovation,so it will be even better.Bus stop nearby,Viva night market is cheap and good for food and drrink,Tesco is nearby.Great location,great hotel.
“Its OK but I wouldn't stay here again!”
You get what you paid for. Its a nice inexpensive hotel with a nice beach but a bit tired looking in certain areas. We got given an adjoining room which we were not comfortable about as we could clearly hear the people in the other room talking. The hotel was nice enough to change us to a room without a shared door to another room. Unfortunately, on the one night we had to get some sleep because of an early departure, there was a large tour group that had arrived and decided to party until about 2am. We made several complaints to reception about the noise but it still continued till the early hours of the morning and hence we only got about 3 hours sleep that night. We were not very happy about the whole incident and felt that we were not taken seriously and hence were not adequately compensated for missing out on a night sleep. It is for this reason that we will not recommend this hotel to our family and friends.
“Out of date”
Don't accept a "hillview" room here as traffic noise will keep you awake, and the hill is covered with buildings. We arranged a switch to "seaview" on arrival, at a cost, but worth it; there were people at the desk every morning asking to be moved. The busy road is also impossible to cross in the vicinity of the hotel; there is a footbridge a couple of bus stops away. Building is outdated with drab rooms, but there is a reasonable, all-day, restaurant with a pleasant terrace overlooking the beach/sea, and breakfast is good. Pool area is pleasant but short on loungers. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Overall the hotel was adequate but suffered from its location. There are no shops in the immediate vicinity, but there is a good bus service from outside the hotel.

“Not worth the money paid for!”
The restaurant food was pretty bad, the buffet breakfast could do better. The furniture in the rooms need to be changed. Except for the view and the pool , nothing is worth it. After travelling from Langkawi, it is a great disappointment. Penang is not as beautiful as Lankawi. The people out there are not that friendly.
