“Old style place”

For those who like a trip back in time to how vacation Inn's used to be like, and do not have to have the sterile environment of todays cookie cutter hotels, this is the place. Our room was definetly not modern, but it was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the surrounding grounds were beautiful. If you have ever seen "White Christmas" just picture the Inn from there. My wife described our room as very Martha "Stewerty".

“Quaint old inn”

Very charming, quaint - Only complaint - there was no ice bucket in the room. Only saw one staff member during our stay but she was very helpful and courteous.

“Good place for a long weekend”

Needed a centrally located place for a fall foliage weekend. This was available at a reasonable price. The main building is over 100 years old and is mostly in great condition. There are places here and there that show its age especially in the dining room. Our room was in the main building and had been recently renovated. It was good sized with two double beds, a chair, gas fireplace, flat screen TV with built-in DVD player, huge walk-in closet, and decent sized bathroom. Two large windows let in a lot of light. The bathroom window did not open and there was no exhaust fan. No hairdryer. The shower water temperature fluxuated widely. Found the bed a little too hard for our liking and the pillows were thin. Their website indicates that they provide muffins and coffee for breakfast. It was much more than that - toast, fruit, cereal, and make-you-own waffles. You could sit in the dining area or out on the porch. Parking was an issue. Had to park on the street. There is some off street parking for their other buildings. The property has buildings on either side of the very quiet street. The pool is across the street from the main building. I would estimate that it would be a 15-20 minute brisk walk to downtown Harbor Springs.

“Would return soon”

I found the hotel to be very clean and spacious in a quiet neighborhood close to the lake. The people were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed the fact that this hotel was part of the history for that area. Breakfast was simple but adequate. We would go back to this hotel.

“Great spot in Harbor Springs”

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The location was great. Great area for walking/biking. A nice, but small pool and close to downtown shopping and beaches. A little too long of a walk to beach/shops for our kids, but bikes would be fine. The hotel is very pretty esthetically but a bit on the older side and didn't include some of the ammenities we are used to when traveling such as pool towels and hair dryers in the room. Windows were very dirty, but we didn't spend any time in the room anyway. The rest of the room was clean. I would definitely stay here again.

“Just off the lake with a friendly staff.”

The Colonial Inn is nicely situated on a quiet street less then 1/2 block from a bay of Lake Michigan. Very picturesque setting and they have their own dock. Our room had been freshly renovated but had a strong paint smell so the desk clerk very nicely came over to personally change our room more to our needs. We were very happy with our accomendations. The rooms are very airy and pleasantly decorated in white/blue. There are alot of windows so the room is airy and bright. The Inn does offer a modest continental breakfast in a very pleasant dining room with a large open porch. All in all a nice choice. Our only complaint is one we have a good deal - the bed was quite hard but the location was just what we wanted near the lake.
