“Salerno Experience Feb 2012”
The hotel is situated 12kms out of town at the beach at Pontecagnano. The hotel stay was exceptional. The room was really nice, jacuzzi in the bathroom,nice hot water & a really big comfy bed. The hotel service was excellent. Breakfast was sumptuous with nice eggs and toast, cereal, fruits, tea and coffee. On site parking included, lots of room. Across from the hotel was the nicest little family restaurant that served a delicious hearty Italian meal for next to nothing. Fautless stay on our way to Paestum. HIGHLY recommend as an alternative to the stressful bustle of Salerno city..We will stay again without hesitation.
“Three cheers for Hotel Olimpico”
This hotel has just gone through an extensive renovation and is in beautiful shape - pool, bocce court,tennis, etc. All modern facilities. The beach across the street is almost finished. The service is great and the food in the restaurant is wonderful. We stayed there in May, just as the season started and it was not expensive. The area is not so good, kind of poor, but they lock the gate at night and the hotel is secure. The bus to Salerno stops right in front of the hotel. We would love to go back.
“Great Stay at Hotel Olimpico”
A great base for trips to the Amalfi Coast, Pompeii and further south. Olimpico is a well-run and carefully maintained hotel. All areas were always kept very clean and fittings and fixtures were of a uniformly high quality. The pool was wonderful after a dusty walk around Paestum and Pompeii and it's a great place to relax. Food choices were somewhat limited out of season and the hotel restaurant was not particularly impressive. Added to that, there are no particularly good alternative eating options without getting in the car and driving to the other side of Salerno. Rooms were a little on the small side, but generally comfortable. If you want a great value base for exploring the Amalfi Coast and Campania regions, this place is worth a look.
“Beautiful Oasis”
A wonderful place to stay, the Hotel Olimpico was a beautiful oasis away from downtown Salerno. Very secure, well staffed and spotlessly clean both inside and out! Our rooms were modern and comfortable with great bathrooms and FREE wi-fi. Food was very, very good and the breakfast buffet was amazing. Although we didn't use the pool, it was sparkling clean. And the beach!? Lovely and clean with spectacular views of the sun setting over the Amalfi coastline. The Hotel is within walking distance to many other great Restaurants, and the FREE parking and FREE shuttle service made our stay even better. We traveled mid-September and enjoyed a crowd-free stay. As American travelers, we expected to encounter people who spoke little Englsh: we were, after all, in Italy. The staff, always very patient and friendly, did their best with English as did we with our Italian and we had no difficulties. Isn't travel all about adventure, anyway?! Having stayed at other "4 star" hotels during our visit, Hotel Olimpico was, by far, a true 4 star rating. A true gem!!
“Hotel that's like an Italian villa!”
This small hotel in a quiet back-water of Salerno was fantastic. The atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility. An expertly run hotel that made us feel like we were staying in someone's villa, the hotel is small enough that you do not feel that you are just another guest in a commercially run business. The staff are friendly and have a high attention to detail. The pool area is spotless (as is the rest of the hotel) and relaxing there is a very easy thing to do. The private beach opposite is also just as spotless, and the Tyrennian Sea warm and buoyant to swim in. Hotel dinner is delicious (our only complaint is that the menu didn't change whilst we were there) but no matter as the food was filling and beautifully presented and cooked. If you do not hire a car there is a bus stop right outside the hotel to take you straight into Salerno, the only problem is that you are stuck with the 8pm bus back from Salerno, a bit of a problem if you don't want to be back so early, but if you are prepared to pay for a taxi back from Salerno once in a while, you are free to sightsee as much as you want as late as you like. We loved this location, the hotel and what this part of Italy has to offer.
“hotel excellent”
good location to visit amalfi coast using bus and ferry from salerno. very near to a must see paestum temples & museum. location around hotel not so good.
“Good value hotel”
Very pleasant family run hotel with lovely pool and grounds. The only real drawback is that there is nothing much to do near the hotel - a car is a must if you want to find shops and restaurants. The hotel is on a busy road which you must cross to get to the beach. Food was OK but nothing spectacular.
“Hotel Olimpico”
Driving up to this hotel made us wonder if we had made a mistake booking this hotel but when we drove into the property we were pleasantly pleased. The hotel was clean, comfortable and friendly. The Mediterranean Sea was right across the road and it was wonderful to eat dinner in their restaurant and look out over the water.
“A real find when you can't afford to stay on the Amalfi Coast!”
This small hotel was a hit with us...right across the street from a beautiful beach area with showers, lounge chairs, umbrellas, etc There was a beautiful pool area but the ocean water was so warm we opted for that. The restaurant was good, reasonably priced. The included breakfast was outstanding. Everything from eggs to cereal, pastries, etc. There are also several restaurants and pizzerias within walking distance. Overall this place was a real find, from the free parking to the internet and beautifully maintained grounds. The rooms were a tad small but this is the way with European hotels in general. Did I mention the free shuttle that took us to the train station?
“We would love to visit in the summer”
We had a wonderful visit with our frinds in Salarno. Your hotel was perfect. It was convienent and easy to find for our friends. The room was lovely. The breakfast was very good. I would love to come back and visit in the summer.
