“Thala Lodge the best!”
Thala Beach Lodge was the perfect place to relax and unwind. The staff are very friendly and helpful (without being at all intrusive), and they facilitate a really informal and lovely relaxed ambience about the place. The rooms are beautiful and well equipped, and very clean. We were upgraded free of charge and the chef was really generous in catering especially for us (we're vegan). We got gorgeous meals and drinks, and just had an overall fantastic time. We also got to see the local monitor lizard. The breakfasts were out of this world too, and the restaurant and bar staff were great. We couldn't recommend Thala more highly for a peaceful and relaxing break (we stayed 10 nights). It is also easy to get to Port Douglas from the hotel -- just a bus ride away (the wee bus comes right to the door of the hotel and delivers you back there).
“A Wonderful Holiday”
Location was stupendous, beaches were wonderful, staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, they just couldn't do enough! It was so relaxing, after 12 days we were so chilled out! Their restaurant's food just didn't quite hit the spot with us, (the setting was fabulous) the food being rather expensive and aspirational, but not good enough quality to be value for money. They needed a cheaper basic range, i.e. salads and simple food.
“You MUST see this place!”
Unfortunately the ratings here only go up to 5. I cannot recommend this hotel and it's wonderful staff highly enough. My wife and I spend long periods apart and we wanted to go somewhere special where we felt looked after but also wanted our privacy respected. I booked Thala based on it's recommendations here and I could not be happier. The experience was truly wonderful and the beauty of the location was only bettered by the warmth and hospitality of the staff. Down to nitty gritty - you are in a rain forest. There are bugs. Come prepared and expect it. The wildlife here is awesome. Unless you are a true 'nature family' who enjoy long walks, loads to see and enjoy critters, I'm not sure this would be a great place for young kids - even though there were kids there when we stayed and they were well looked after and catered for. Only gripe I had was the pool was bloody cold but not unbearable. Meals were predictably expensive but fabulously tasty and great quality. The staff at reception made us feel so welcome that by the time we left, we felt like family. Simply wonderful people who were a complete pleasure to be around. Nothing was too much trouble for these guys. In conclusion: a truly memorable experience that we would love to repeat some time and have no hesitation recommending Thala to others.
“Private, romantic and spectacular”
From the time we arrived the staff were very friendly and professional, we started our stay with dinner at the resort restaurant as we arrived about 7pm, the views were spectacular. The restaurant is an amazing experience with views second to none. We were then taken to our cabin that was both private and romantic. Over the next week we explored the resort discovering beaches, lookouts and very private swimming pools. We also explored the surrounding areas, this was an amazing relaxing holiday.
“An incredible experience”
Staying at Thala was literally one of the most gorgeous, amazing experiences of my life. Not only was the hospitality incredible and so personal from before check-in, but the restaurant was amazing - the best food in Port Douglas by far - and the eucalyptus view tree house room was so chic and beautifully fitted out. From the view from my balcony, I could see the eucalypt forest, hear the birds and the crashing waves of the beach. In the morning, I did a recreational beach wildlife tour (fabulous) and finished it up with cocktails by the landscaped pool. This is going bush - 5 star.
“Great Lodge”
Thala Lodge is a beautiful lodge consisting of at least 50 seprate elevated cabins in the jungle. The grounds and adjacent beach are terrrific, staff is wonderful. The only drawback for some travelers is that the lodge is somewhat isolated, being about a twenty mile drive from Port Douglas. However, I highly recommend it to all travelers that apreciate the outdoors as much as being in the middle of the action.
“Paradise!”
The hotel and staff were impressive and catered to our every need. We were welcomed and treated like royality. Their free events like "star gazing with Rose" were highlights and something you have to see. They are located on 145 acres or private rainforest so the darkess allowed us to peer into the Milky Way and see stars and galaxies we can not see in North America. It is close to all the things we wanted to see and our room was perfect. We even got to see rare animals and beautiful birds right outside our room. Sunset at our private beach was also a memory for a lifetime.
“awesome place”
Fantastic atmosphere, accomodation, food and the staff are so friendly to one another and guests Best place I have ever stayed at
“Beautiful but some service issues”
Beautiful resort, amazing location. Restaurant service slow at times and could be improved. Also, we arrived in the evening after the last seating of the restaurant. They did make an attempt to provide a light snack (cheese and fruit) however we were really hungry and tired from our travel and would have appreciated a greater selection and attempt to accommodate our needs. Overall great experience and would not hesitate to return.
“Real Paradise....., Loved every minute.....”
Every moment at Thala Beach Lodge was in one word FANTASTIC. We were very pleased with the location as seclusion was what we chose. The staff was great and very helpful with all our questions and requests. We were very sad to leave Thala Beach Lodge and would choose to stay there again on another Port Douglas adventure.
