“better than we'd anticipated.....”
we loved the hotel that was the hotel deluxe before it became the hotel deluxe & were disappointed when it changed. but, wow! it certainly changed for the better. all the way around great! excellent rooms with every possible need anticipated & met. and the price, although more than the former had been , is still better than many of the other hotels with better everything. the restaurant is not as amazing as the hotel, but that didn't detract at all. we have found our new favorite place to stay when visiting the rose city....
“"Portlands Best Theme Hotel"”
I have stayed at this hotel twice now and all I can say is "lovely". One of my favorite features is the "make it happen" button on the telephone pad. Anything you need in your room they provide-from pillows to down blankets. This hotel has all the elligance of the '30's and '40's movies with all the modern amenities. So, if you want class and elegance with out the 5-star price this hotel is for you.
“Already recommended to family and friends”
Absolutely beautiful hotel with exceptional staff and great location. Will be back.
“The de-lightful, de-lovely de Luxe!”
the entire staff was friendly and accommodating, from the vallet/doorman to the front desk. the lobby was beautiful, intimate but still very grand. the aesthetic details in the hotel are wonderful too. from the variety of directors highlighted on each floor (with the light up mirrored rundown of directors and films!) to the structural historic details of the room interiors. it was fun to think about who lived here before and what it was like. the driftwood room was THE BEST bar we visited in portland over 12 days, and we hit many of the hot spots. mike (and i believe courtney?) were remarkable bartenders and conversationalists. they led us to many other bars and restaurants and talked about local libations. we did eat the late night happy hour appetizers. beautiful mussels with sausage and creamy broth and a fantastic sizzling pan of forrest mushrooms. we also stayed at the Kennedy School for three days and the Hotel Modera for another 3. we enjoyed both very much, but the de Luxe was the stand out.
“Wonderful”
This hotel was excellent. Excellent service, beautiful room (not the largest room in the world, but very well appointed), nice location. This hotel pays attention to the details, and it's noticable. Oh, and the bed and linens were ridiculously good. Did not want to get out of bed. Also, the hotel service was all around great. Love it. One of the best stays I have had anywhere. Will be back.
“away from downtown but comfortable and fun”
Nicely remodeled decor and comfortable (if small) rooms. Staff very helpful. I'd stay there again.
“Always wonderful”
Hotel Deluxe is a truly classy establishment. Professional, accommodating, friendly and luxurious. I have had 2 week long stays on different occasions and recommend it highly. The restaurant is wonderful as well, and the proximity is perfectly situated between the desirable downtown and pearl district areas.
“Portland: Deluxe Delight”
had a great time at the Hotel Deluxe. Did my research before I went, but found complaints about small rooms and distance from downtown insignificant compared to luxury bed, value, good design and overall comfort. Its an easy walk to downtown, and I wouldn't want to stay closer to the noise and traffic anyway. Trams are frequent, some are free.
“Excellent Experience”
A friend and I stayed at the Hotel deLuxe for a girls' getaway weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The location is great for walking all over the downtown, NW and Pearl District areas. The room was small but comfortable. We took full advantage of the pillow menu. Our TV wasn't working properly and because we were hesitant to change rooms since we were leaving the next day, they comped the breakfast we had enjoyed in the restaurant that morning. All the staff were very friendly and helpful- they even printed out driving directions for us as well as movie times. I would definitely recommend a stay at the deLuxe. Also, there are two computers for guest use (free) in the business center. Very convenient!
“Great place”
This hotel was very charming and provided excellent service. Any request we made was taken care of immediately. The hotel was comfortable and elegant. The room was small, but nicely furnished and clean. Our room was near the ice and elevator and I was concerned that it would bother me, because I am a light sleeper. I was pleasantly surprised that I could not hear any noises from the hall or nearby rooms. The hotel is a little bit away from a lot of the sights, however there is public transportation in about 2 blocks. There are also many restaurants within walking distance.
