“Needs updating but over all a good stay”
This hotel could use updating but you get what you pay for. It's on the older side but it is in a great location it's super close to the rose quarter and the llyod center. You get free breakfast and 24hr. pool access. There are near by options for food if you have picky eaters. The staff is very friendly and helpful. So over all if you can get past that it's an older hotel it's a good deal for the price. Oh and the beds are super comfy :-)
“Quality Inn - fine”
Hotel was convenient and the bed comfortable. When we first got there I thought that the staff was little shabbily dressed, but they were very nice and helpful, so it was not a big deal. It took the strength of Hercules to turn on the shower. I told them and I'm sure it's fixed. As a practical place to stay in Portland, it was fine.
“Just what we needed.”
For what we needed this place was excellent. Service was great. The staff was very friendly. Room seemed just fine. We stayed for two nights and didn't have any problems. Continental breakfast met our needs. They had waffles, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, bagels, OJ, Apple Juice, Cereal, Biscuits and Gravy, and most importantly coffee.
“This is now called Quality Inn!”
This hotel is now called Quality Inn. It is apparent that La Quinta had not invested in the property for some time, quite dated decor. It looks like the new owners have started to update it. Large fridge and microwave in room, also good selection of TV channels, including BBC. Quite dirty behind furniture.
“Quality of the room”
The room and the hotel are somewhat shabby. The carpet was sketchy looking, I was uncomfortable to walk on it barefoot. The bed was comfortable and clean. The curtains and the rod was good quality. The heat in the shower was inconsistent and the towels did not match. The bathroom was very clean. I do feel that, with my Expedia rate, I definitely got my money's worth.
“When is LaQuinta not LaQuinta?”
I was not warned that the hotel had changed ownership (?) and name, so that when i showed up looking for La Quinta I found a Quality Inn instead. While they honored my reservation, it would have been better had i been prepared for the change' THe complimentary breakfast was excellent, the gentleman who supervised it was cordial and efficient, the temperature controls in the room were problematic, and had apparently just been installed.

It was under construction and a little dirty in the common areas

They were in the middle of renovations so there was dirt and dust around the place. The pool wasnt heated and the corridors and room smelt a bit. It was well located though so I didn't mind so much. You get what you pay for and your mainly in the room to sleep and shower so it does the job for that.

“Hotel needs basic improvements”
The hotel is old and in need of major renovations to make it a nice experience for visitors. For example, the carpets in rooms and hallways need to be replaced. Also, the room keys stopped working after a day. I had to get mine reset every day by the office. Peanut butter was not made available at the continental breakfast unless it was specifically requested. The overall feel is that management doesn't want to invest in basic amenities, and the maintenance needed to keep the hotel fresh and accommodating.
