Property Amenities
The majority of amenities, activities, and gratuities at Melia Tropical All Inclusive are included in the room rate; guests will not be charged extra for the majority of amenities and activities (scroll up to the All-Inclusive Details section for more information).
Among hotel amenities are tennis courts, spa tubs and numerous pools with beach umbrellas, towels and sun loungers. A fitness facility and yoga classes are onsite. Nearby amenities include golf lessons, ecotours and helicopter tours.
A scarlet-carpeted casino (open from evening until late night) offers 40 slot machines, 6 blackjack tables, 4 roulette tables, and 2 Caribbean-poker tables. 6 pools, 2 discos, and 2 theaters are on site. The property also includes a rooftop terrace.
The resort presents a “Flintstones” children's program, featuring The Baby Rock Club (4 months – 4 years old) and the Bam Bam Club with a fun park and stone lake (ages 5–12); teenagers (ages 13–17) can play at an arcade and dance at a disco for 2 hours in the early evening.
Bavaro Beach is the point of departure for glass-bottom boats, disco-party boats, and snorkeling excursions (surcharges).
The resort provides a complimentary roundtrip shuttle to the Palma Real Shopping Village next door. The village has many stores, restaurants/bars, and gift/accessory shops.
Rooms
The majority of amenities, activities, and gratuities at Melia Tropical All Inclusive are included in the room rate; guests will not be charged extra for the majority of amenities and activities (scroll up to the All-Inclusive Details section for more information).
Guestrooms at Melia Tropical range in size from 450 to 815 square feet (41 to 75 square meters). Guest suites feature a separate sitting area set off by an arch and furnished with a couch and an upholstered chair and stool. A pink marble vanity and desk contrast with pale marble floors. Bathrooms contain a tub/shower combination. For a fee, an in-room safe protects valuables. The resort purifies water but recommends drinking bottled water provided in the room.
There are also 144 Royal Service Suites. These Caribbean-style accommodations have a spa tub between the bathroom and the bedroom areas. Other amenities include plasma TVs in the bedrooms and living rooms; a balcony or terrace, private check-in/out, room services (limited), welcome amenities, and access to a private Royal Service Lounge where complimentary Internet access, coffee, beverages, and hors d'oeuvres are available throughout the day.
Royal butler and concierge services include assistance with reservations for spa, water sports, golf, eight tennis courts, as well as excursion planning. A Royal club, "Gabi Club," features a private pool offering poolside service, a restaurant, and a private beach area.

At all 13 of Melia Tropical All Inclusive's à la carte restaurants, men are requested to wear long pants, collared shirts, and closed shoes at dinner; reservations are required 24 hours in advance.
La Gondola - This popular spot plays four roles, offering an Italian buffet for lunch, Italian à la carte selections at dinner, fast foods from late evening until early morning, and a continental breakfast.
Hokkaido - This Japanese place features à la carte teppanyaki dinners, with guests seated around grills while chefs cook to order. Additional charges may apply.
Le Gourmet - Serving international favorites such as Tuna in Dill Sauce and Duck in Orange Sauce, Le Gourmet is a fine-dining, à la carte restaurant.
Market Place - This restaurant serves a breakfast buffet and an international dinner buffet every night with no dress code.
Turey Grill - This beachfront place serves breakfast and lunch buffets and grilled foods such as burgers and chicken all afternoon.
Agora Grill - Like Turey Grill, Agora Grill is located on the beach and serves breakfast and lunch buffets and grilled foods such as burgers and chicken.
La Pagoda - This Chinese dinner restaurant specializes in popular à la carte choices such as Peking duck and wonton soup.
Ma Maison - This à la carte dinner house specializes in dishes such as Lobster Thermidor and Beef Filet in Sour Cream and Cognac.
Capri - Food from the sea such as seafood crepes and grilled shellfish is the attraction at this à la carte restaurant.
La Hacienda - This Mexican à la carte restaurant has a dinner buffet and made-to-order taco grill.
American Grill - American-style à la carte restaurant.
El Guarapo - Dominican à la carte restaurant.
Gabi Club - Restaurant and lounge in a private pool area serving international cuisine. Open exclusively to guests staying in Royal Service rooms. À la carte service for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Open from early morning to late evening.
The resort includes nine bars, including one in each lobby (Caribe and Tropical), swim-up bars in both large pools, and a bar serving the casino and adjoining sports bar/disco that remains open until late night.
Recreation
Golfing is available on-site at the 27-hole Cocotal Golf & Country Club. This par 36/72 World Class Championship Golf Course, designed by José Pepe Gancedo, offers professional golf lessons (surcharges) at the Sol Meliá Golf Academy. Calloway golf equipment is available for rent at the pro shop. Golf carts are mandatory (surcharge for rental). Green Fees are not included in room rate. Golf balls are for sale at the pro shop.

“VERY IMPRESSED CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK”
It was great the whole time there the staff was very helpfully and very very accomdating to us the hotel was great and had a good view too also rooms were big and the food was very tastefully and delicious
“the best hotel in the caribbean area for relax & comfort”
Our vacation was the best. The hotel staff was very friendly and the service is the best in the area. We are waiting for the next year to repeat our fantastic experience.
“An Awesome & Relaxing Experience”
We highly recommend this hotel BUT if you go, ONLY go if you are staying in the Royal Service Suites. You have your own pool, own bar, own resteraunt, free internet, free concierge, and own section of comfortable beach chairs. All restaraunts were great EXCEPT Italian...trust us, skip this...at the Dominican Resteraunt, ask for a plate of the pork from the roasting pig...best pork we have ever had. If you go to the Japanese Steakhouse, go with at least one other couple you know- if not, you could get stuck with 3 other couples that are duds...but the food is great. Best tip...bring about a $100 in $1 bills and another $100 in $5 bills- tip everyone all the time a dollar here, $5 at dinner, A buck for your drinks...and the service makes you feel awesome! if going royal service, ask your butler to "get a bath" ready...it is SO worth the experience! We highly recommend it for a relaxing, enjoyable time.

My family and I travel often to the Islands and we always stay at the all inclusive resorts, but the Melia Tropical in Punta Cana is the best so far. The hotel staff is very pleasant, the food is great, and the entertainment is awesome. Also, it is a great resort for families with young children. Sincerely, The Fisher family .
“Wonderfully Romantic and Relaxing”
Melia Caribe was fantastic. As soon as we got there we were immediately upgraded to "Royal Service" which I definitely reccomend. Royal Service has beautiful suites with jacuzzi tubs and private bedroom, a private pool for all Royal Service guests (fantastic, with "palapas" all around the pool - these are bed-like lounge areas)and a private restaurant (the food is so-so but the rest of the place makes up for it). The beach in Punta Cana is outstanding, one of the best I've seen. The paddleboats are included in your rate, so take one out into the ocean - its worth it.

Overall this was a great Facility. Service Real was the way to go! Would be better with 24x7 service. Resturant's were ok - some better than worse! Great Evening Shows.
“Very good value for the money”
My family and I had an excellent time at this Resort. The property has beautifully maintained landscapes, lobbies and restaurants (you could eat in a different restaurant, without leaving the resort, every night for a week!). Furthermore, the staff is very friendly and most of them are bilingual. They could improve the rooms as they are average. Of course, the beach in Punta Cana is very nice! The only problem we found in our visit were the group of people trying to sell you Timeshare (apparently an avoidable experience whenever you visit a resort anywhere) under the name of "CLUB". They are masters of deception and have a bundle of selling techniques mastered. If you decide to listen to the presentation and buy into it, make sure you read the contract carefully (within 5 days) and see if fits your vacation and/or traveling habits. It did not fit mine at all. However, others may feel comfortable with it. We will definitely visit the resort again. We now know not to pay attention to the pitches to join the CLUB experience. Other than the prior warning, we certainly recommend this resort.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE: We plan to make this location our annual May trip (each year). We are sending out invites to our friends and family to join us next year. We loved the service, the beaches, the food was outstanding, especially the Market Place.
“Melia Caribe Tropical royal service”
Booked the Royal Service at hotel, Gabi club was excellent, the people of the DR were very friendly and helpful, resort is big but the landscaping is gorgeous and the staff do their best to make your stay exceptional. Restaurants were all wonderful and easy to book. The resort and ameneties were excellent. As was the weather!

I traveled to Melia caribe Tropical with my spouse and 2 teenagers. We were all extremely satisfied with the service at this hotel. Everyone was very welcoming and ready to assist us in our needs. The grounds are immaculate. All the food and the specialty restaurants were excellent. My family and I can't wait to go back.
