“We will come back there!”
Though from outside the hotel doesn't look very attractive, the room we stayed in was great. We were a family of 3 (2 adults and a 4 year old) and our triple room with two walls covered in windows was great - tidy, basic but modern, and with all necessary facilities. The breakfast in the downstairs bar was very nice with a standard continental choice of foods. Hotel staff were superb - really friendly and helpful with any questions about excursions. They treated our little one with something every day - a bunch of grapes, a milkshake, a piece chocolate. The location of the hotel is great as well - right in the downtown at the end of the main restaurant/bar/shop street. And finally the price was very good too, though we were travelling in low season.
“Wonderful hotel - really recommended”
We picked the 4th Floor Hotel because we were looking for something small that had some style and comfort, and which was in the heart of Reykjavik, and we were not disappointed. I was a little worried when we first checked in because we were led out of the hotel and down the road, but it turns out that they have some studio apartments which are accessed through another doorway - we'd been upgraded! The apartments were great - very well furnished and equipped, spacious, and with cooking facilities and even washing machines. I felt like we'd become residents of Reykjavik! Staff were very friendly and accommodating, could recommend places and restaurants to visit, and went out of their way to help us every time. Thank you, 4th Floor!
“Pleasant Stay”
Everyone way helpful at this hotel, they were quick to make recomendations about the local area and assisted us in organise our excursions. The hotel was good value for money and convinently located. The breakfast was great and really kept us going until the evening. The negatives- The hotel is in a building shared with other businesses such as a dentists and a dressmaker, this feels a little odd but has no real effect on the stay. The shower was luke warm in room 202 although this was most probably an issue with this room only the sink had very hot water. The water from the bathroom is not drinkable, although when the restarant is open you can pop down to for free drinkable tap water. The rooms were not cleaned as regularly as I am used to and the bed was not made or washed during our 4 day stay. However none of these things caused any significant problem and I would certainly recommend this hotel.
“Fun hotel in Reykjavik's city center”
A fun hotel near Reykjavik's city center! We stayed in one of the apartments at the beginning and at the end of our stay, which was really nice. We liked it so much we arranged to come back at the end of our stay, too! What made us come back to the 4th Floor Hotel is the service--the staff were really friendly and helpful in arranging things like buses & shuttles when we needed them, making sure we were pleased with the room, etc. Next time I go back to Reykjavik, I will definitely stay here! The apartment features a balcony (kind of a rarity in hotel rooms in Iceland, it seems), kitchenette complete with oven, range, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave; washer/dryer in the bathroom [the W/D controls are labeled in Polish (!), but we figured it out], and best of all--the bed is situated in a little alcove, far away from the sliding glass doors of the balcony--which gave respite from the sometimes hellish 22-hour sunlight in Iceland's summers. The room is standard IKEA decor, which this American likes just fine. Like many places in Iceland, there are gorgeously fluffy down duvets on the bed (yeah!), makes one want to lounge there forever. There are also nice, full-length draperies over the entire length of the sliding glass doors, which definitely blocks a lot more light than many Icelandic rooms I've seen.
“4th Floor is tops”
I had a wonderful 9-day stay at the 4th Floor Hotel in Reykjavik. It's on the far end of the main shopping/dining street, which only took a few minutes on foot to reach. It's also near both Hallgrim's Church and the harbor. My room had a view of the harbor and was very comfortable. Free Internet access in the lobby. A full breakfast buffet is served in the hotel's adjoining cafe, Studio 29. Overall a fantastic stay...Joanna at the front desk and Eleanor in the cafe will take good care of you!
“Great Staff”
Staff very helpful, courteous, and friendly. Room small but very adequate. But I knew this before I arrived. Hotel clean, breakfast excellent. Located near the centre of Reykavick. Close to all the places I wanted to see. Would go back there.
“Great stay”
The room was perfect for us and the staff were helpful in arranging tour contacts, pointing out little known places to eat and suggesting what to do for New Year's Eve.
“6 Day stay in Reykjavik”
This hotel was perfectly fine for my 6 nights, not a 5 star but 3 stars are okay. I loved the fact that I could walk and see the city sites without going miles and miles. The staff were very helpful and friendly and if I was to go back to Reykjavik I would stay here.
“Would definately return.”
Great location. Uninspiring from the outside, but comfortable inside. Our rooms were upgraded as rooms on 4th floor being retiled. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast to start the day ,plenty of choice.
“Functional hotel, good value for money”
Stayed one night enroute to North Iceland. Functional rooms, good value for money though better suited to light travellers as the rooms were on the small side and cupboards pokey. Breakfast included in the price which included hot eggs/sausage links/bacon strips as well as the typical continental breakfast spread. Located on the quieter end of Laugavegur but only a brief walk to the bars and restaurants.
