“Recommended”
The hotel was comfortable, clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. The continental breakfast was very good. I would certainly have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Well done.
“Good location, very helpful staff”
An excellent hotel close in to the center of town. The staff was very friendly and very helpful.
“Cant wait to go back”
My husband and I recently enjoyed a 3 night stay at Hotel Reykjavik. We found the location, breakfast and service at the hotel fantastic. It is within walking distance of all main attractions. We would also recommend the restaurant next door, Harry's, delicoius food and very reasonable prices.
“A Three Star Hotel With a Five Star Staff”
We can't say enough about the staff at this hotel. Everyone was very helpfull and accommodating. From suggesting restaurants, making reservations to giving detailed driving directions, the staff members were always there to help. The rooms were very clean and larger than what we expected for a European hotel. The hotel served a breakfast buffet, which could have included more traditional American items, but everything was very fresh and well presented. The hotel restaurant was five stars, the menu offered a large variety of both Icelantic and American entrees. The presentation of our meals was excellent and they were cooked to perfection.
“Surprised to be happy after other reviews”
Was expecting something boardering on acceptable given the price and reviews of the hotel. So delighted to be wrong. Our room was recently refurbished and of very high tourist standard (moderate business). The 20 min walk along the coast into centre was one of the highlights for us rather than a disadvantage. There are pleanty of hotels much further out of centre and to miss on sea views by being close to centre and therefore building site on coast would be mistake. Only warning is not to order food in evening - menu sounds great but hotel not staffed to deliver. Shame would be a good feature otherwise. And if traveling with kids request a room at the back of the hotel if you don't want awkward questions about the interesting 'Christmas Light' in the window opposite.
“Great place to stay”
Friendly and clean hotel. Well located not to far from some good restaurants, shops, and the cathedral. There is covered parking for the hire car. Our family suite was great. Spacious and warm. It was great to be able to open a window too and get some of the clean Icelandic air in. Breakfast great too. Recommended.
“Very good hotel to stay in Iceland”
In general, hotels in Iceland are not the same as a typical hotel in the US. Thus my review is based on a typical hotel for Iceland (I had a chance to stay in another hotel before). This is a good and very clean hotel. We book "3 bed room", but got a double bed with roll-away bed instead. The hotel charged us less than the original estimate. The room was very clean and cozy. The room and hotel looked like recently renovated. The included breakfast was good. It's a real steal for Iceland where everything (especially now, with weak dollar) is so expensive. Make sure you eat you breakfast, lunch, and dinner :-) to save some bucks. The hotel is located near city center: 10-15 walk to the heart of the city. Ask hotel for a trip to Blue Lagoon. It's a really nice place to spend 2-3 hours. Make sure you book the earliest bus. But the time we were leaving (1:30 PM) Blue Lagoon the line to get inside was huge.
“Iceland - what a place”
The hotel is convenient for town, very quiet streets, went in September 07, Excellent staff, upgrade your rooms well worth the extra cost. God restaurant next door.
“A good hotel to stay in”
I stayed from 6th to 15th July 2007. I was staying on my own in a foreign country. The staff were very helpful and spoke better English than many for whom it is a first language. In fact,I gave Anna, one of the excellent receptionists a tour book and asked her what, as a native she would recommend. I have to say that I took her advice and found it to be faultless. In fact, my mistake was not to consult her about a trip that I chose which left much to be desired. They also asked whether or not I had enjoyed the tour on my return and most places would never even bother. I loved the people, the scenery, their help, their friendliness and their honesty.
