“Incredible!”
We had the most exquisite time in this charming hotel
“Wonderful Vacation”
This was our second time to Catalonia Playa Maroma April 30 - May 7 2011. This time was even better then the last. Food was good, we had a privileged room and it was clean and nice. Entertainment staff was energetic and fun. If you are looking for an English speaking crowd there are some but it seemed mostly French. All of the staff was very helpful and very nice. If you are looking for a relaxing hotel this is the one. Roberto the concierge is wonderful and goes out of his way to help. Some children, The beach is gorgeous and like powder.
“Ready for my next visit to Playa Maroma!”
We loved our stay at the Catalonia Playa Maroma. Very friendly staff. Great food. The beach was definitely the highlight of the trip. It was paradise!. I wanted to stay away from the loud Cancun crowd so this was definitely the place to be. Hotel guests were mostly from Europe so the atmosphere was definitely international. The hotel entertainment staff made announcements in 4 languages. Great value. I can't wait to go back!
“Absolutely AMAZING! and will definitely go back”
This hotel the best I've ever stayed at- all the employees were wonderful & very accommodating. The food was excellent and always had a variety to choose from. Always fresh with excellent service from the employees at all the restaurants. The entire hotel and grounds including the beach & pool were very well maintained and clean! It is an absolutely beautiful hotel with gorgeous surroundings and exceptionally well staffed. From the minute you check in at the front lobby till the minute you check out of your immaculate room. Best vacation ever!
“Relaxation and fantastic beach”
Really enjoyed our stay the Catalonia Playa Maroma (we booked privilege) its good to know the full name to the hotel, as the taxi service at airport can't get you there! Beach was fantastic, service was wonderful, I thought it was worth what we spent and the privileged was a bonus. The rooms were great, restraunts were okay, Italian was fantastic, Terrace was great, Mexican yummy, and the buffet was actually very well done. Location is a little far from Play del Carmen, about $25 each way for taxi, and when you get picked up for excurstions most are pretty far away, so it takes awhile to get there. Overall I really enjoyed it, take advantage of the activities, its just hard to find out about them.
“A high rating for All Inclusive”
A wonderful experience. Most beautiful beach. Food was great. Staff very kind and helpful. We would go back. Two things to note: If you are driving there from the airport it is an easy drive, but very hard to find because of very poor signage. We had to stop several times for directions. AND if you are looking for great evening entertainment you could be disappointed. The stage actors tried hard but left a lot to be desired. Still, I give an overall A plus.
“Caribbean Paradise”
We did a lot of research before booking our trip. An excellent beach and relaxation were our priorities for this trip and we found them at the Catalonia Playa Maroma. This hotel is about 25 min from the airport (we recommend booking your transfer to/from the hotel online in advance, if possible). The hotel is set back from the highway in an amazingly lush and secluded setting. The "lobby" complex is a beautiful, open air building that houses the front desk, a nightclub, and one of the hotel's main restaurants. The hotel rooms are housed in separate buildings, each "hidden" from the main path (and from each other) by a jungle of palm trees, plants, and flowers. Each building surrounds its own beautifully manicured courtyard. The main path leads straight to a few shops, the pool, more restaurants and to the beach beyond. The beach is spectacular. Soft, white sand stretches wide toward the water and in either direction. There are hotels on either side of the Catalonia, but the beach never felt crowded (even though the hotels were all full). Chairs were always available, not matter the time of day. Currently, you can walk at least a mile in either direction. There is a passionate activity staff who encourage some fun hotel goings-on, but will leave you be if you prefer. The crowd at the Catalonia was a great mix of Europeans, Central & South Americans, Canadians, and a few Americans. The staff is multi-lingual and wonderful. We are considering another stay soon!
“Riviera relax”
Very good, well-managed hotel. Friendly to guests. Absolutely no negative during stay. Only road to hotel left question. As a matter of fact - there is no road to hotel, and it took time for taxi driver to find the way. Beaches are good, food - good (try la-carte restaurants)
“Great vacation, we had a very relaxed and fun time.”
We had a great vacation. The beach was awesome at this hotel. The hotel is older but we had booked a privilege room wihich was upgraded in some areas. The bathroom area was older but in pretty decent shape. The bed was the most comfortable bed we have had while visiting Mexico and we have been there around 10 times. The food was very good and there was a nice selection in the buffet for all meals. I would recommend this resort to my friends if they wanted to have a nice relaxing vacation.
“Wish I were still there”
Catalonia Maroma/Privileged Beach was a very nice place. The beach was beautiful and very clean. The rooms were nicely updated, well appointed, and comfortable although most do not have any ocean view. The balcony was a nice feature, the pool very large and pretty. The staff was all very friendly and attentive. We never had any issues getting drinks or food and rarely had to wait if ever. The food at the ala carte restaurants was good and the presentation impressive. The buffet was not bad, not great, but not bad either. The selection was not huge especially for main dishes, but they usually had some tasty pastas, rices and vegetables. The creperie was a neat feature. The bars will use top shelf liquors if you ask for them. The road leading to the hotel is ridiculously bumpy and pretty long, which I definitely think the hotel should fix, but nonetheless worth the trip down the bumpy road to relax at this hotel. This is our 4th Caribbean vacation, so I feel like I have a fairly good grasp of what to expect. All in all this was a nice place and I would not hesitate to go back. People who are complaining about this place probably spend their lives complaining about everything all of the time.
