“Excellent Location”
This hotel's location is perfect - within walking distance of everything. We only needed public transporation when going to and from the airport. Even though its in the center of the city, it is surprisingly quiet. The location of this hotel made our stay in Rome a great one.
“Fantastic location.”
Great staff. Unbelievable location. We could walk to everything and the restaurants we only feet away. Just out our window was an Egyptian obolisk. It was truly magical. Oh yeah, the staff was fantastic. If you can't speak Italian, don't worry about it. Their English was better than ours. And if you need or want a car from the airport to drop you off at the door, just call them and they will set it up. Marvelous. Would go back in an instant.
“Nice hotel in great location”
We recently stayed two nights at the Colonna Palace Hotel and we were very impressed. While an older hotel (most hotels in Rome are), it was very nice and clean, with large rooms, modern bathrooms and an elevator - a plus in Rome! The location was great! We easily walked to the Trevi Fountain (5 minutes), Spanish Steps (10 minutes) and the Pantheon (2 minutes). Plus, the hotel is directly beside Rome's parliament building so there's always tons of police around making it feel ultra safe. We took the train then subway from the airport to the hotel and had to walk about ten minutes with our luggage. I recommend taking the bus instead, which stops across the street.
“Right in the heart of Rome”
The hotel is in a pedestrianised area of Rome, really convenient for the Pantheon. The hotel is a bit of a warren of rooms, but the service from the staff makes up for any shortcomings. They're really friendly, efficient and welcoming.
“Our second stay there. Second stay was even better than the first.”
We spent another five nights at this hotel. The room was very comfortable (just remodeled). Location of hotel is perfect for proximity to all tourist attractions (walking distance). Continental breakfasts on the roof of hotel were very nice. Not all of the staff speaks English but everyone is extremely helpful and go out of their way to work with you if you don't get rude. Can't think of a nicer play to stay in Rome. It is definitely a four-star (European rating) hotel. We will stay there a third time if we have the opportunity to return to Rome.
“Location was perfect”
Everyone at the hotel was friendly, helpful and the front desk staff spoke excellent English. Breakfast on the roof top terrance was the perfect way to start each day. The location was in the heart of all the sights and could be reached by walking. I would stay here again if I have a chance to return to Rome.
“Fantastic location. Helpful staff.”
The hotel is in a great central location, it was very clean and comfortable. The back of the hotel can be a bit noisy with mopeds but this is central Rome so is to be expected and the shutters mainly shut out any noise anyway. Found the staff to be very courteous and helpful. The breakfast was good but beware of pigeons on the balcony!
“Ideal for place to sleep on quick visit to Rome”
The location of the Colonna Palace Hotel is great for a quick, intense visit to Rome. It is located very near the Pantheon and all the major sites are within 30 minutes walk, Barberini metro is 15 minutes walk away. My booking through Expedia worked well, I only had to show my passport and sign a form. My room on the 5th floor was small, the bed was 2ft6. I certainly did not think the room had been redecorated recently and was nervous about whether the room was going to be clean. I checked the carpet, sheets and mattress and to my relief they were all clean. The ensuite was not in the newest of conditions, but was clean and worked fine. My view of Rome rooftops from the balcony was from the back of the hotel. At night I closed the balcony doors and shutters, due to the noise of mopeds going up and down the cobbled street outside. I think anywhere in Rome would suffer from this as mopeds are everywhere but seemed to stop by midnight. I tried the Airconditioning unit, but it did not seem to work, however at this time of year it was not overly hot at night so it did not cause me a problem. The breakfast was good: Cereal, Yoghurt, Fruit, Bread Rolls etc. Early risers could sit out on the top floor balcony. Beware of the pigeons as they try to get to you breakfast if you leave it unguarded. Overall, if all you require is a place to sleep at night, then the Colonna Palace is fine (especially as it was one of the cheapest centrally located hotels I could find)
“Excellent service & great situation”
Refurbishments still not quite finished. Single room on the small side but well planned. Saw a few other, larger rooms which seemed very attractive. Very quiet though so central. Very helpful desk staff.
“A pleasant surprise”
The hotel was in a very central location nearby to all the major attractions; the pantheon was only a 10 minute walk away as was the Trevi fountain. Although if one were to visit the Vatican (especially in August) I would recommend getting a taxi there simply due to how hot the days are. The room was spacious, very clean and a nice environment to simply go back to and relax after a long day punding the tourist trail (although a few channels on the TV in English wouldn't have gone amiss)! The breakfast in the morning was pretty basic and I wouldn't recommend to anyone scared of lifts to use the elevators simply due to the creaking noice that they make. However as the 'bad' aspects of the hotel are in fact pretty trivial, overall I would definitely consider staying in the Colonna Palace Hotel if I returned to Rome.

Navona - Pantheon, Rome, Italy: In the heart of the historic centre, Piazza Navona is Romes most famous square. Like a giant stage set, this is where the theatre of daily Roman life is re-enacted among the café tables that spill out onto the fountain-splashed piazza. Berninis baroque extravaganza, the Fontana dei Quattro Fiume, is the most celebrated of the three fountains. Nearby is the Pantheon one of Romes great symbols and a marvel of ancient architecture.
