“Good Value”
My husband and I really enjoyed staying at Hotel Caravel. The floors were marble, and we had a small balcony. The cost was probably half of what you'd spend right in the heart of Rome, and it was very accessible. There is a bus stop right across the street that will take you into the heart of Rome, and it's a short ride.
“Great Find”
This was an awesome hotel at the end of our Europe trip. Our room had plenty of space, and our friends' room had a great balcony. It is convenient to a couple bus stops, and relatively close to a Metro Stop (although we didn't find it until the last day). Some of the buses don't run very often, and that's about the only downside, but a slightly longer walk to the Metro can offset any waiting time if you're worried about it. We had to pay for internet, but this seemed to be very common in Italy. Also, our A/C didn't seem to be working, but the time of our visit allowed us to leave the balcony door open and be comfortable, so we never mentioned it to management. I would DEFINITELY stay here again if we went back to Rome due to the high quality to cost ratio.
“Affordable and convienent”
The right hotel for the right price. Caravel was inexpensive, but very comfortable. It's close proximity to the metro makes it great for those visiting Rome. It's in a decent area - I didn't feel unsafe at all. The staff was nice enough and spoke English, which was helpful for a newbie to Italy.
“Great Value for Rome”
Conveniently located just outside the walls of ancient Rome on Viale Colombo and in close proximity to the Via Appia Antica and EUR. Reasonably priced parking garage and there is a great Pizzeria/Ristorante adjacent. Friendly and helpful staff. A/C was a littled weak, but overall the room was nice for this moderate price.
“perfect for what we needed”
This hotel was exactly what we were looking for. We were not looking for a 5 star hotel and we were ok walking a bit of a distance to get to places. It was about an hour walk from the colluseum, but the bus is right out front of the hotel (across the road). 714, 715, 30 express and 130 all go into the town centre and come very often. 30 doesn't run on sunday. Breakfast buffet was great. sandwiches, fruits, cereals, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice. plenty of options. room was plain, clean and exactly what we needed and expected. had a free safe service in your room. If your looking for a cheap hotel and don't mind 30 minutes getting into town in the morning this is a great spot. you have to leave your room key at the desk when you leave and the staff gets grumpy if you don't.
“Nice, Relatively Inexpensive Rome Hotel”
This was a very nice hotel located about a 10 minute bus ride from Ancient Rome. The rooms are large compared to some other European hotels and were very clean. The only complaint we had were the front desk staff. They were unfriendly and behaved as if every request was a chore. If you keep your interaction with the front desk staff to a minimum, this is an affordable, comfortable hotel not far from many of the attractions in Rome.
“We had a blast!”
Hotel is a great pick for those who are budget concerned. Our double room was very basic but everything we needed. There is a bus stop right in front of hotel but boyfriend and I just hiked to the nearest metro every day (about 2 miles). Not too far out of the main city limits and transportation gets you to the heart of rome in about less than 10 min. Two blocks away is the ancient city wall! The staff was a bit grumpy but we knew that coming in to it. Free breakfast was GREAT! Internet access was also very good. Beds a little uncomfortable-- basically cots. And the toilet made really strange growling noises all night.
“Good money/quality ratio.”
Good money/quality ratio.
“A clean room in a ghost town”
On arrival hotel did not know we were coming (having booked our rooms 2 months previously). Staff quite unhelpful when asked about where to go in the City. Hotel only B&B, no coffee or snacks available during the day/evening and went to a restaurant next door, who didn't seem interested in customer service. Hotel room very clean, cannot fault this, and very impressed at standard. Visited during August and many of the surrounding buildings seemed closed down/out of business, giving quite a rundown feel. However, still quite an ideal location for exploring, as long as, as my friend put it: you’re in a group. We had originally planned to go as 2 women, luckily we invited a man, because the walk to the hotel from the metro could have been quite worrying on our own.
“Not bad!”
Not a bad place to stay. Not in city centre, but very easy to get to the centre via bus or metro. Breakfast was very good. Room was a good size and clean. Plumbing was noisy and shower wasn't great. Hotel had some rowdy guests on the Saturday night and traffic noise is a bit of a problem as hotel is situated on a busy road. Some good restaurants and bars close by - majotiy closed on a Sunday though. Overall, good value.
