“Loved the history and ambiance of this small hotel”
We loved this small hotel built on the foundations of a 2,000 year old Roman theater....the very steps on which Julius Caesar was assassinated. The room we had was a third floor walk up, and was European-charming with a little outdoor walled garden landing at one point and old-fashioned doors we would unlock on the way up. We enjoyed the ambiance and the exercise, but wondered what we might have thought if we'd been more elderly and not so spry. We had a corner room and a lovely breeze when we opened the windows, and we enjoyed the sounds of the city (people singing below, etc.) But once we closed the windows, things were very quiet and we felt like the whole building was ours. We walked to all the sights-Campo dei Fiori, St. Peter's, the Collosseum/Forum, Trevi fountain, Pantheon, the Jewish quarter....the location was stupendous. The breakfast was outstanding with freshly-made espresso to order. There were many coffee bars all around, though, so we often went out for cappucini and cornetti like the Italians. We would definitely return to this hotel. Four nights was not enough in Rome!
“Cozy, warm, historic and friendly”
This cozy and historic hotel was well-located (though a little tricky to find initially). It is in a great part of the city and I could easily walk to many attractions. The staff were generally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and substantial.
“The Best”
We spent four days at the Hotel Teatro di Pompeo over Christmas. The staff couldn't have been more helpful finding us open restaurants on the holidays. Of course, the location was the best. In a quiet, quaint area within walking distance to everything!
“Great Hotel - What a Gem!”
We were a bit worried when our taxi driver could not find the hotel but the location was great. It was centrally located - about a 15 minute walk to the Colosseum and the Vatican. Less to get to the Pantheon. The hotel staff was wonderful and the hotel has incredible charm. Our room was very spacious. We would highly recommend the hotel to anyone going to Rome. You'll be hard pressed to find better - especially for the price.
“Friendly and welcoming”
Paolo is the most helpful, knowledgeable and sweetest hotel person in all of Rome. This felt like our home. Breakfast was wonderful and plentiful. We were within walking distance of everything yet in a secret hideaway largo (little piazza) near little restaurants and wish-I-had-more-money-to-spend shops. The Campo de Fiore was a little walk away and we bought tons of outstanding presents (cheap) at the open air mercato. And the room was QUIET!!!! I'd stay there again in a New York second!
“Great Hotel and Great Location”
Everything about the hotel was great! The location allowed us to walk to all of the famous sights. It is near a plaza so there were plenty of good restaurants to choose from. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet and very safe. I highly recommend it.
“Hotel ideally located for the tourist in Rome.”
The people were helpful, the hotel is ideally located for both walking and bus transportation in the historic center of the city, the room was spatious, and the breakfast was good.
“Perfect location for walking anywhere and everywhere!”
Interesting, ancient building. Great location for getting anywhere by foot. We never took a bus or used a car. About halfway between the Vatican and Coliseum. Very nice staff and good size rooms.
“Could not fault”
This small and friendly hotel was absolutely exactly what we wanted - friendly staff, great location, historic building, clean and comfortable. From the outside it doesn't look much - a typical Roman city house, but it is right in the middle of the historic centre - 2 minutes from the Campo de Fiori, and 3 from Plazzo Narvonna. Breakfasts are taken in a 2nd century vault, and are ample and typical - cereal, breads, fruit, ham, cheese and as much real coffee as you want. The staff are very friendly and helpful, booking reastaurants and advising on when to visit museums to avoid the worst of the crowds etc. Would hope to stay at the hotel again.
“Great”
Ideally located for all the major attractions.

Navona - Pantheon, Rome, Italy: In the heart of the historic centre, Piazza Navona is Romes most famous square. Like a giant stage set, this is where the theatre of daily Roman life is re-enacted among the café tables that spill out onto the fountain-splashed piazza. Berninis baroque extravaganza, the Fontana dei Quattro Fiume, is the most celebrated of the three fountains. Nearby is the Pantheon one of Romes great symbols and a marvel of ancient architecture.
