“Wonderful time!”

Staff was wonderful, hotel was beautiful, food was excellent. Loved our stay.

My boyfriend and I were going for a weekend.. we checked in a bit earlier, to drop our bags off everyone was fabulous and helpful, our room was small and cozy and very clean,. perfect for our getaway weekend,. we had a appetizer at the tavern that was really good food, we did not eat at Nathaniels because it was a bit too pricey for us. The location was by far the best, to stay in salem, you can sight see and walk everywhere... better than any other hotels,.. the one thing I thought was strange is there was no Bell manager or anyone to take our bags, the hotel itself was so impressive you would think there would of been one. The hospitality we were given in salem was so fabulous in the hotel and around town. I would reccommend it! If you are bring children you want to request a bigger room.. but ours was lovely:) Stephanie and Rick

I was a little concerned after seeing some negative reviews, but the Hawthorne had such a good reputation that I went anyway and was glad that I did. It's one of the "Grand Hotel" types, not all modern and hospital-like as we tend to see now-a-days. Now that I know about Internet deals, and have a son who can manage the computer for me, I look forward to going again and will stay there if possible. Everything was perfect. If I had to suggest something, it would be to have a coffee maker in your room, or at least one by the soda/ice machines that they have on some floors.

A unique historic hotel. The rooms are small but the accomodations are lovely and not a cookie cutter chain hotel. Staff very nice and helpful. The pub is nice for light fare or a drink.

The hotel was in a great location. I never used my car the whole time in Salem. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They suggested places to eat and which museums were worth seeing. I think Salem itself was a very friendly town; most locals were very helpful.

Wonderful place! The Hawthorne is centrally located, wonderfully historic and absolutely beautiful. We had a wonderful late dinner in the dining room- the food was beautifully prepared and delicious. Absolutely worth it, I'd go back tomorrow if I could get off from work.

“A step back in time”

I stayed at the Hawthorne during Christmas, 2009 and had a lovely time. This hotel is not like new ones, all slick and antiseptic. It's like stepping back into a more gracious time. Polished brass, patterns, and soft lights. It sits on one side of the Salem Green, which was pretty in the snow, and on Christmas day they have a killer brunch, for which you need to reserve a seating well in advance. Cozy little borrowing libraries (book shelves) on every floor and a friendly staff.
