“Inn at the Park, SD”
Hotel has character. Our room was really a suite with a kitchen. Great location, across the street from Balboa Park. Many great restaurants in the neighborhood and in nearby Hillcrest. Fantastic roof-top breakfast buffet with 360 degree vista. Only valet parking available. Streets are metered.
“Inn at the Park”
Comfortable, large suite. Great breakfast in the rooftop restaurant with beautiful view.
“Great hotel for families!”
You can't beat the location of this hotel for families. There is a playground right across the street and the continental breakfast and the sweeping views of the city are wonderful!! We were in a corner room and had a little balcony. The 2 sleeping areas with doors that closed meant we could put the kids down and still stay awake and not worry about them waking up. We loved the vintage feel of the hotel. They are undergoing extensive remodeling, I hope they keep the "old" feel with all the beautiful crown molding. Nice to have a full kitchen too. The next time we come, we'll plan on staying for a longer time. 3 nights wasn't enough to even scratch the surface.
“Home away from Home”
This was my third stay at Inn at the Park and t was with some trepidation that I booked in. The hotel was sold to a large corporation just the time of my last stay, and the staff expressed nervousness that major changes would alter the essence of this very special Inn. When I arrived, a good bit of the lobby was draped in plastic, and renovations quietly going on behind, but the check in desk had been moved to the adjoining lounge which was pretty and functioned perfectly. As always, the staff was discreetly ever-present...all my needs were noticed and attended to efficiently. Robin at the front desk arranged for me to stay in my same room when I booked an addtional night, which saved me a good bit of upheaval. Truly I cannot praise this wonderful home away from home enough...and no, I'm not related to the hotel in any way, nor am an invester. I am a loyal customer because Inn at the Park has earned my loyalty every time. The renovation wil be done soon,, but it wasnt disturbing in the least; And if you stay be sure to check out the entertainment downstairs...always a great party.
“Excellent hotel with Friday happy hour”
Gay friendly hotel with over the top service and friendliness. Thank you for all of your advice and making us feel comfortable
“Great location, nice historical feel”
If you want ultra-modern and slick, don't go to this hotel. It's a 1926 building with wide hallways, lots of wood and old-fashioned, high-ceilinged suites. I enjoyed the closet full of built-ins (although not the new mirrored doors) and the feel of another time, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Bathrobe, room safe and free Wi-Fi were good, and roof-level dining room was wonderful. However, the planned renovations probably will help, although I sincerely hope kitchens and bathrooms are updated in a vintage, period-appropriate way. Euro-modern or streamlined Deco would be a disaster in this place. Traffic noise at the west end was a problem, mostly due to open windows. Location across from Balboa Park and in Hillcrest neighborhood is perfect. Would definitely stay here again.
“Wonderful! Great location, charming, roomy rooms!”
The lobby is small and beautiful. Lovley flowers and decor. All rooms come with a fully equiped kitchen. They also have pots/pans and utensils which the maids wash for you. The room was large and furnished with antique type furniture. The bathrooms don't look as nice, but everything functions well. The room comes with a bathrobe, iron and board, blowdryer, coffee maker, microwave, stove, refrigerator, kitchen table, and couch. The bed was comfortable. The front desk staff were freindly and helpful. The continental breakfast was typical. We had dinner downstairs. The cheese and pate plate was ample and good. The lamb shank looked like an elephant shank, big and wonderful. The ceasar salad was quite good. The prime rib was average. The prices were reasonable. Previous reviews stated that this is a gay friendly hotel and it certainly was. If you have a problem with that, then I would suggest staying elsewhere. That certainly wasn't a problem for us. The location was the reason we stayed there. Across the street is Balboa Park with many museums, festivals and the world famous zoo. Public transportation is right outside the door. I would stay there again without even considering another hotel.
“Great place to stay in San Diego-Balboa Park”
We were happy with the hotel and friendly staff at the Park Manor. Our room was on the 6th floor and kinda noisy from the breakfast room upstairs. Our room and the hotel could use a new coat of paint and new carpet but was nice. The floor in our bathroom needs to be redone. We wer close to all the attractions and the bar and restaurant in the hotel were great as well as all the staff there. A taxi to and from the airport is very cheap at only 12.00. We would stay here again but not in that exact room. Nice but can be noisy at times. If you have a family this is a great place to stay and the views from the rooftop are amazing. This is a very gay friendly place so if you are not open to this don't stay here. Very close to gay area Hillcrest.
“Definite Return Patron”
Great Location, good exploratory point from which to explore San Diego.
“Not a happy time”
I was in San Diego for the funeral of a member of the family. Employees of the cafe said they knew the deceased when I showed them his photo. They gave me good service, although that knowledge would not be the reason.
