“The perfect splurge!”
We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The front desk staff were very helpful in addressing our questions about local restaurants and sights. The booklet they gave us for the top dining, shopping, and experiences in the city was clutch, I highly recommend that anyone visiting grabs a copy. The spa facility was small but we loved the "Turkish bath". I would definitely stay there again!
“Best hotel experience in sf ever!!!!”
perfect service. everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. they were very nice to our dog, chubbs. doggy biscuits handed out like candy. he had a great time. and no charge for the dog. a++++++ room was very nice. good size for sf (which runs small). elevators were fast. tv and ac rocked. hot water. good water pressure. comfy bed. the neighborhood can seem a little seedy at first but i think it only just seems that way. despite the fair amount of all night "massage" places and typical homeless people and hookers, it seemed pretty safe and calm. i took the dog on many 2-3am walks and nothing weird happened. in fact the people on the street were very friendly. 2 blocks from union square, cable cars, buses, etc. great taqueria on the corner called "el sol". amazing burger place one block away called "pearl's" great neighborhood for cheap eats. tons of local bars within a 2 minute walk. great experience at the monaco. we won't stay anywhere else in sf from now on.
“Fun hotel with great staff.”
The Monaco is a character hotel and lives up to it's reputation. You will find knowledgeable, effusive staff who are always ready to help. The rooms are, as with many boutique hotels, not large, but ours was not cramped at all and the décor was charming. Food was also good, and the afternoon wine tasting was well attended and fun.
“Perfect Shopping Location”
Amazing service. A perfect, fancy hotel for hanging out in the City. Staff was so helpful without that "snobby" upper-end hotel attitude. You are about a 5-7 min walk to Union Square and Shopping. About 10 -15 min walk to Cable Cars and Market Street.
“Best San Francisco Hotel that I have stayed in yet!”
The Monoco in San Francisco is a fantastic hotel. The staff is exceptional, the rooms are the cleanest I have seen anywhere, AND it was quiet! There are several hotels in SF with a better view, but most that I have stayed in are very noisy throughout the night. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a warm and welcoming friendly staff, an interesting and inviting decor, exceptionally clean, comforatable quiet rooms, and a great experience. I plan on staying there every time I visit SF!
“Very funky”
The hotel is a very funky, eclectic mix of decor and design. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, especially the cleaning staff. Everyone always had a huge smile on their face. We had a queen size room and it was on the smaller side, but the bed was extremely comfortable and the Kimpton hotels are always great for thinking of small details such as books for reading etc. I read one review by a person who felt the hotel was not well situated in that if you went a couple of blocks the wrong way you were in a bad area of town. I don't know what kind of sheltered world that person lives in, but I found all areas to be safe, full of people, and fun to explore. Highly recommend it.
“A real treat. They've thought of everything.”
This hotel was just what I needed after stepping off a long haul flight. From the moment you arrive the staff take care of you and you feel instantly relaxed. The room has everything you could want and being able to plug your own ipod into the radio/alarm clock made me feel instantly as if I was staying at a friend's house rather than a hotel. Wish I could have stayed longer.
“Quite nice”
Nice furnishings, very clean, good staff attitude. Fun wine tasting and complimentary massage. Location is great.
“Very nice!”
The room was confortable, quiet and clean and service was great. The restaurant and the ,bar are also very good.
“Loved the hotel - it was fun & in a great location”
We took a mini vacation with the kids to SF and found the Hotel Monaco a perfect getaway. The decor was fun and the kids loved having a goldfish as their very own pet during the stay. Fitness center was very nice - which was a treat. The restaurant was a great choice for breakfast - service was a bit grumpy- but the meal was fabulous.
