“Loved Nikko.”
We usually say at small boutique hotels in SF, but stayed at the larger Nikko and were very pleased throughout our stay. The staff was exquisitely polite, and prompt with every request (a fan, a fridge, make up room late one evening) and the guy manning the continental breakfast room on the 23rd floor was super nice and thoughtful. Didn't miss any of the boutique design touches either--Nikko had it all, including a large luxurious bathroom. In contrast, at two nearby boutique hotels, also this year, we encountered a few staff and room issues--nothing serious, but things were smooth at Nikko. Up the hill the neighborhood gets more posh, but lots of nice restaurants nearby for various tastes, and we felt safe late at night.
“San Francisco - Union Square”

“Nice hotel”
A nice hotel 2 blocks from Union Square. Very nice, comfortable rooms. Douuble rooms are larger than king rooms but well appointed. Nice thick mattresses and linens are top of the line. Plasma TV and good ventilation in rooms. Good service in hotel and very clean. The concierges here are friendly and helpful and indispensible if you need resevations at the last minute or a tour on the fly. Quiet hotel with Starbucks adjacent to front door. Close to Powell line of cable cars (1 block). Get a Muni pass in the gift shop. $18 for 3 days (unlimited) vs $5.00 for a one-way ride!
“will stay again”
for a central location and quality hotel this tops the list
