“Great experience”

We spent one night in this lovely B&B. The room is beautiful and clean and we had a view to the garden, the house is very pleasant and quiet. We had a nice walk to the downtown area and a nearby beach. The breakfast, even though lacking a non-sweet element, was delicious, especially the apple pancake.

“Very quaint B & B”

This Inn is just as you see it on the website, which was the first great thing about this lovely little bed and breakfast. Due to the facts that we arrived on the earlier side of check-in and that they had a couple of vacancies the evening we were there, we were able to see all but one of the rooms. This worked to our favor because we had originally booked the Rosemary room but found it a bit small. We were easily able to switch to the Thyme room. The bed was incredibly comfortable, aided by the wonderful duvet and pillows. Definitely one of the better night's sleep I had on this trip. The only criticism I would have of my stay here is based on a comparison to other B&Bs I have stayed at. While the proprietors Rick and Kathy were nice enough, they seemed a bit better suited to be hotel front desk clerks than innkeepers. A nice little spread of wine and cheese was put out for the guests at 5:00, and although Rick came into the room a few times to check if anything needed to be replenished, he made no contact or conversation with any of us. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, but the situation was the same. He was helpful enough if you needed anything and gave good suggestions/directions of places to go, things to do, etc. However, I have become used to having the innkeepers mingle with their guests, even sitting with us at afternoon tea (or wine & cheese) as well as breakfast. Overall, a good value for the money and a pleasant one-night stay.

“Half Moon Bay in winter, short trip”

we stopped in HMB for two nights, as a time killer, based on some family/friend plans at Thanksgiving which did not happen, needed to kill a couple of nights prior to SFO flight. researched HMB accomodations, B&B and hotels, as it was a 2 night stay, preferred a B&B. the OTI appeared to be among the top 5 or so, and is close to the 'downtown' area. there is not as much in the 'downtown' as anticipated, but we did walk to dinner one night and spent a couple of hours walking around the retail spots. the OTI is almost exactly as the web site represents, no surprises. that said, this is our first time at an 'old style' B&B, usually stay at newer locations with larger rooms and more modern walk in showers. IF you love the old stand alone tubs with a shower curtain on a pipe ring around the tub, you will like this place. IF you like more modern, walk in showers (as do I), seek another location. Breakfast company enjoyable (as we find at most B&B spots). Breakfast food was adequate, not up to the gourmet standards we have experience elsewhere. and ... California is a high cost state, so my views of value are prejudiced to locations east of there.

Owners wife was away and I think the hospitality suffered as a result.
