“Outstanding service”
This hotel had staff that would run to open the front doors for me, and each staff would always acknowledge me.
“You owe it to yourself”
The Palace lives up to its name. Try to be there on a Sunday morning so you can enjoy the champagne-included brunch served in the Garden Room -- sushi, dim sum, seafood of all kinds, regular breakfast fare, crepes, omelettes, deli sandwiches and a dessert table that will blow you away. Our room was a little smaller than what you may find elsewhere, but the ceilings are quite high so there was no feeling of being cramped. The room was finished beautifully -- it is obvious you're not in a pre-fab cube on the outskirts of Cleveland. Public transportation just steps away, and an excellent concierge too. Starbucks, etc. right up Market St. Spend a little extra, you won't regret it. Ignore the people who are whining about room service prices. Why would you eat in your room in San Francisco? Sheesh!
“great hotel- very centrally located”
The location was great. the bart is right there. the hotel is beautiful. if you like new high tech then this is not the place for you.
“The Palace is Perfect”
My girlfriend and I loved this hotel. It is an older hotel with large hallways, paneling in the rooms and thick walls. It was absolutely beautiful with a great ambiance. I also loved the location - twenty minutes (walking) to the Embacadero, five minutes to Union Square and lots of great small restaurants to choose from. My girlfriend and I would definitely stay again!
“charming hotel”
This hotel is the bomb. The old sun room and old charm really makes it a wonderful experience. The staff was very helpful and coutious. The service was excellent.
“Loved it”
The hotel was great, the staff was great and helful. However the only draw back was the parking was not mentioned to be $48 a day which we felt was steep, but maybe not for the city and we are just not used to it. But if you were staying at a hotel I wuld figure the parking would be included.
“totally deserves its luxury landmark image !”
This is a beautiful, historic hotel where I got a junior suite at a very affordable rate while attending a wedding there. Every aspect was wonderful- the beds were incredibly comfortable, the food- room service and restaurants was superb, and all service from check in, to room service, concierge, check out was impeccable. And it was a beautiful setting for a wedding. If you get an affordable package I recommend it not just as a place to stay but as a world class hotel experience.
“A Great Hotel in the Most Charming City in the World”
This was our third anniversary in a row (#32-34) that we've stayed at the Palace, and we plan to do it again next year. We commute from the suburbs on Bart which drops us off at the door, take Muni or walk to all the landmarks (Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square, Ocean Beach and the Ball Park at McCovey Cove, and use the first-rate facilities at the hotel--pool and jacuzzi, cozy room, the Pied Piper bar, and the Sunday brunch. The entire staff is service oriented and friendly and the Palace sparkles with Old World charm.
“easy access”
good for overnight stopover.excellent japanese restaurant in-house and very "buzzy" bar (Maxfields)also serving food. easy access to shopping, both Westfield and Union Square. another plus is that BART from airport stops in street outside. the main entrance and 'cafe' is pure early 1900s, so do not go if you like super-modern aesthetic. would recommend as good value
“Awsome Character Hotel Truely Magnificant”
If you want to experience the grace and luxury of a truely historic hotel. The Palace is definitely the place to stay. All well situated to business district and shopping. All round perfect place to stay as the rates are low for the quality of the accomodations
