“Great hotel, fab location”
The staff were superb and very helpful during the renovation work. They assisted us with all of our travel and sightseeing requirements with courtesy. The beds were the best I have slept in in a long time. Each room had its own little kitchen area which was great. The hotel was in the best location for Union Square, cafes, art galleries and the shopping centres.
“Long Week-End in San Fran”
Great location. Could not fault this hotel. Loved the TV in the mirror in the bathroom, not necessary but a little luxury.
“Great experience in the City by the Bay...”
It was only after reading reviews on many different sites that I did cancel our reservations at the St. Francis & took advantage of an Expedia special on the Donatello. This trip was a family trip including my adult children and their two toddler 3 and 2.5 years of age. The plan was to have the older one stay in our room and the younger with Mom and Dad. The St. Francis has an excellent location, however, they charged for the additional roll-away bed and for internet, also it did not have the convenence of the wet-bar 1/4 kitchette. We also wanted a large room and from reviews, it sounded as if the Donatello would fit the bill...and it did, exceeding our expectations! The room was spacious, clean and very well appointed. They acknowledge my request to have rooms next to each other. The conciege was very helpful, the happy hour at the bar allowed us to bring toddlers for a nosh when it was just too stormy to venture outside one afternoon. Location was perfect for us...our other daughter and grandchildren live off of 5th-SOMA
“Great hotel”
The hotel was great, room was recently renovated and pretty spacious. Additionally, hotel is located within a block away from Union Square.
“Perfect place in San Francisco.”
We felt welcome from the moment we stepped in.The cleanliness of the room was surprising, the room was newly renovated and all the facilities were up to date. Location of the hotel is great, walking distance to Union Square, shops, restaurants, buses, cable car.The whole experience in San Francisco was very pleasant and complimented with The Donatello Hotel. I would warmly recommend this hotel to everyone and would definitely stay there again.
“Relaxing stay.”
The Club at the top floor is nice but appeared not so well patronized. Morning coffee/tea could improve if there are some cookies and fruits, similar to other hotels around the area. The room is big and comfortable. The locality is great, close to some excellent restaurants and of course the shopping area.
“Exceptional staff!”
The staff was very attentive. I left my battery charger and battery to my camera plugged in at the room when we checked out. Went back to the hotel later to try and retrieve it. The maid had already cleaned our room and put the item in a bag labeled with the date and our room number. I was so appreciative of the staff's honesty and integrity!
“Good choice”
Very good location, very clean comfortable rooms. Fabulous comfortable bed. However, rooms situated on the side facing Mason street, could be a little noisy due to the proximity of the local nightclub.
“Loved it”
Everything and eveyone on the staff was just great. From the comfortable bed and black out drapes to the food from room service everything worked to make our stay a pleasure.
“Great hotel”
I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms were great, very comfortable. The location was awesome as well. My ONLY complaint was that they were in the middle of renovations on other floors and I lost cold water in the shower the day of my checkout, so it wasn't a huge deal and I'm sure they fixed it quickly.
