“Garden oasis in lovely Santa Barbara”
We really enjoyed our stay at the Cheshire Cat. We stayed on the recommendation of friends and can't fault the service we received. The staff were very friendly. The B&B had a lovely garden which was a refreshing place to return on a hot day. Advice on local restaurants and things to do was good. Only downside was that our room was a little stuffy and didn't get good airflow - stale air from bathroom hovered a bit. The fan provided was sufficient to overcome this. It was quite hot the day we were in SB
“Cheshire Cat Inn WILL put a Grin on your face!”
After a glorious 7 hour meander down Hwy 1 in California we were tired on arrival at Cheshire Cat Inn in Santa Barbara. We could not have had a more warm welcome from Bartha the Inn Keeper who quickly gave us a glass of wine and some delightful appetisers. Our room was beautiful and immaculately clean. After a supper in a wonderful restaurant within walking distance (the Inn is very well located for all in Santa Barbara) we returned to find a batch of freshly baked Brownies for our sweet dreams send off. Sweet Dreams indeed. The bed was super comfortable and the linens exquisite. The room was bright and sunny and decor charming. Breakfasts do not leave you hungry. Homemade at the weekend and ample variations of continental during the week. All staff are very friendly but discreet. This is a well run establishment, in a very attractive property and I can't wait to return. I give it the highest endorsement and feel the value we got was terrific. We certainly left with a HUGE Cheshire Cat Grin on our faces!
“10th Anniversary Get-Away”
We were recommended The Cheshire Cat by a friend and stayed in the March Hare. Upon arrival we were treated more like friends than "guests". The room was very cute and perfect size. The old houses are gorgeous. This room is on the corner and gets the afternoon sun. Turns out it was the hottest weekend so far this summer so it was pretty stuffy and warm in the room. They provided us with fans and we left the windows open. Once the sun went down it was perfect. Saturday night was a little noisy with the cars going by. The breakfast on Sunday was wonderful and the Continental breakfast Monday morning was nice too. They also did wine and munchies every night. The bed was very soft. Not good for us but if you like soft you're set. You can walk to most things and there is a bus that will take you downtown/beach for $.25. Great deal! Stops running at 6p though. Never did see any kitties though.
“A-MAZ-ING, didn't want to leave!”
We arrived early to find our rooms weren't ready (we'd booked the Cheshire Cat and Caterpillar rooms), but we'd been upgraded to the best rooms in the place (Tweedledee and Tweedledum rooms, in the carriage house) so we were more than happy to wait (and used the time to pop over to Camarillo outlets for some shopping). The rooms were beautiful, so comfortable and well presented. The grounds were immaculate, the home-made breakfast was lovely, we only wish we could have stayed longer. Quite a few restaurants within a few blocks as well. Thank you Connie, we can't wait to come back!!
“great”
what a wonderfull b&b great rooms staff were very helpfull helping us find a great restaurant we met some lovely people also staying there due to the happy hour wine and cheese served in the afternoon will definatley be back
“Great service and location”
quiet, comfortable. Beautiful property. Gracious hosts. Excellent weekend breakfast. Walked to State street just 6 houses a way. A wonderful weekend
“Adorable Santa Barbara B&B in excellent location”
Very cute B&B set in beautiful historic homes with lush gardens. Central location right near the heart of State St dining and shopping. very friendly welcome and excellent service throughout stay. Only negative to mention was a slightly uncomfortable bed for our tastes in Jean's room. Defiintely will consider if travels bring us to Santa Barbara.
“Will stay again next time!”
The Cheshire Cat Inn was a darling place to stay! Thankfully, we arrived at the end of the week's heat wave - the old Victorian building doesn't have A/C. The location was perfect - we walked down State for dining out and shopping. We stayed while in town to run the Santa Barbara 1/2 marathon... and the weekend breakfast was heavenly after finishing 13.1 miles! The hot tub was also delightful. Wonderful, friendly & helpful staff made our stay even better and the daily happy hour in the lobby was a great opportunity to meet other travelers & get suggestions of things to do. (SB Orchid Estate was incredible!) Looking forward to staying here again for our next 1/2 marathon in Santa Barbara!!!
“Great Stay”
I would stay here again
“A Quaint B&B with friendly staff”
We loved our stay at the Cheshire Cat Inn. Cristine (the innkeeper) has worked for 30 yeas to create a sweet hotel in a convenient location in SB. Breakfasts are wonderful, the inn is clean, well appointed and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Our only minor problem was the Mad Hatter room's sink was in the bedroom and the bathroom was small. The soap is of the "green" variety and isn't really effective. It would be nice to have more upscale toiletries (cream, soap, shampoo etc). We plan to return whenever we stay in SB.
