“Beautiful Grounds, but...”
The hotel is beautiful and the staff was very attentive when we finally got to our room. We got into our room at 4 and had dinner reservations at 5. By the time we got back it was too late to enjoy the amenities. My husband golfed the next day and we had to check out before he finished his round. The grounds are gorgeous. Would go back but not plan anything to do but stay on the grounds.
“Paradise”
The hotel and spa are beautiful. All of the staff is extremely courteous and helpful. The grounds are well-kept and offer a real sense of relaxation. The meals were delicious. The setting is glorious. Wonderful stay. Will definitely go again.
“A hotel that met our needs”
We booked this resort hotel only a few hours before arriving. Check-in staff were helpful and selected a room with better views than the assigned room at booking. A great hideaway resort which is well maintained. Golf package is reasonable value & the hired clubs were excellent. No time in our schedule to explore local township. Easy drive to LAX - just less than two hours with moderate traffic conditions & a refuellling stop.
“Luxury hotel and spa -- but not for a workout”
We attended a destination wedding. Superb food, beautifully delivered in a very pleasant environment. They have a golf course, tennis, 3 pools (one narrow one dedicated to laps), a room for exercise classes, and the typical "pampering" kinds of spa services. Expensive, as you'd expect. What "exercise" there was amounted to "lite." There was no place to run/jog, no weight room, or any kind of potential for a serious workout. The most popular activities seemed to be sunning by the pool (with attentive staff bringing drinks and food 4 times an hour), zooming around the grounds in golf carts, and eating giant, wonderful, expensive meals. The grounds were notable for smooth paths and well-kept displays of diverse handsome flora. A small oasis, slightly claustrophobic, and not much to do for non-golfer/non-tennisers.
“Wonderful Relaxing Stay”
Very quiet and serene, everything smelled like lavendar! Beautiful grounds, lots to do, comfortable rooms and excellent friendly service. Food was pricey and corkage fee is $30 !!
“I loved this hotel!”
This was our first time staying in Ojai and I'm so glad we chose this hotel. We stayed for 2 days with our kids. Immediately after we arrived, we felt like this was going to be a really great adventure! The staff was very friendly and attentive. We chose the Ojai room because it was about $100 cheaper, and we couldn't have been happier. We had a beautiful view of the mountains and golf course. If you're into martinis, check out the martini bar. There's a really fun bartender who really knows his stuff. Drinks are pricey though, $15 a pop! Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel. I only wish we could have stayed longer!
“Nice but some staff haughty”
What a beautiful property, in an idyllic setting with all of the trappings of the highest end resorts. The bell staff, the (free) valet parking staff, swimming pool area wait staff even the cleaning people, all seemingly hired as seasonal workers (lots of young people who are students), were universally upbeat, truly interested in our enjoyment of the trip, and they truly reflected the friendly disposition of the people from Ojai you meet in town. The downside was the the snooty attitude of the concierge staff, and the less than friendly front desk folks, who ere efficient but not warm and welcoming like you expect at this class of resort...they seemed the full time/permenant staff who seemed to feel that they belonged there more than we as guests did... All in all a very worthwhile destination resort
“Escape to another world....”
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at Ojai, and our only regret was that we were only able to stay for 2 days. The spa is drop dead gorgeous (the finest I've ever been to), the golf course is beautiful, and the entire resort really *feels* like a resort. It has a "campus" feel to it, spread out buildings with the golf course winding through and around everything. The restaurants were excellent and there was a great atmosphere everywhere. Staff was SO friendly and made us feel comfortable wherever we went. Highly recommend!
