“Bachelorette Party Weekend”
Most of the hotels in the area were booked so we decided on Villa Rosa. The outside is very cute, especially in comparison to the surrounding buildings and it is extremely close to the water. You definitely need to have a sense of humor to stay here though. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage that had some quirks. The decorations are odd and there wasn't a phone to call the front desk or anything. But everything was super clean and it served its purpose. The biggest issue was parking. You need permits to park on the street during the day but they won't give them to you until 10am the day of.
“Cute Bed and Breakfast”
Everything was great, Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We had a great time! It is a bed and breakfast, not a 5 star resort, so it was exactly as expected. The Wine and Cheese hour was really nice, they had all these little orderves you could tell they put a lot of time into. The wine was not from a small local winery which would have been nice, but its free wine, what is there to complain about! The breakfast was great too, yummy croissants from a local bakery and make your own waffles. If you are concerned about carbs, there is not a whole lot other than some cut up fruit, but you are on vacation enjoy! We stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage, not really a cottage more of a small apartment in the building next door. One note-the kitchen is not a full kitchen, more some cabinets with dinnerware and a refrigerator. No Microwave or stove. The beds were comfortable and the only improvement I could ask for is newer comforters. Looked like they had been around a while. Overall we really enjoyed it and would go back.
“Nice!”
Beautiful room and great service!!
“Near beach, lots of extras, homey”
This was a quiet hotel which skewed toward the 30 and over crowd. Great complimentary wine and cheese offering in the afternoons, port at night and a decent breakfast selection. The rooms were a little dusty and the bath products were so so but spacious. Very close to State Street start and the pier, bike path, and beach. Courtyard with swimming pool was nice. Minimal parking but they made street permits available. Staff was friendly and eager to recommend things. Overall a nice stay in a simple, sweet, homey hotel.
“ghetto comfort”
nice place if you don't mind it being a little ghetto.
“Charming European-stye hotel”
We've stayed at many places in Santa Barbara, some good, some bad, but this is the first one we've decided we'll stay at again. Maybe exclusively. The lobby smells like roses when you walk in, a quaint, comfortable B&B feel. At breakfast and happy hour in the lobby, we met interesting people from around the world and had lovely conversations. We stayed in a cottage room, which is an adjacent apartment building turned into hotel rooms. Apparently, the rooms in the hotel are a bit nicer, but the cottage rooms are far more spacious. We were not disappointed at all with the condition of the room. We didn't use the full kitchen in the cottage room, but knowing it's there might change our plans a bit next time. Be warned... it has character, it's old, and it has a european feel. If you're looking for a five-star hotel chain, with everything new and perfect, this isn't the place. But the staff is extremely helpful and friendly, and there's a charm that we're looking forward to returning to.
“Adequate Accommodations”
If you need a clean place to sleep, this place has a clean bed.
“Stay was ok”
The Photos are a little deceiving. I had one of the rooms in a photo. Not as nice as the photo
“Nice place, but could use some updating”
It is an unbeatable location--close to everything in Santa Barbara. The hotel is a little dingy, and could use a little updating. The pool area, which has a hot tub and lounge chairs, was not very inviting. It looked like some landscaping was in order, as well as a pool cleaner. The main areas (living room, dining room) were very nice and inviting and the staff was very friendly. I kept telling myself, "We are paying for the location." It was nice and quiet, and I was not disturbed by other guests. It wasn't awful, it just wasn't as nice as I thought it would be, based on the photos from the website. It seemed to cater to a nice clientele--middle aged couples (like us). It was nice meeting the other guests and chatting over breakfast or evening wine and cheese.
“Santa Barbara weekend.”
Nice location to ocean. The tiles could use some spot cleaning.
