“Summary”
Good value for the money, nice restaurants next door.
“Best Hotel in the Capital”
This is the only place I would consider when staying in Sto Domingo
“Best in SD so far”
This is the third hotel we've stayed at in Santo Domingo over the past year and the best by far. Front desk staff spoke excellent English as did the staff in the indoor restaurant. The more casual patio restaurant did not have English speaking staff but was still enjoyable and did have English menus available by request. The best part about this hotel was that you never had to leave it to enjoy drinks and/or dinner. The lobby bar was full and attentive. The lobby restaurant was excellent fine dining and the patio restaurant had a nice selection and service as well. Rooms were clean and large with high speed internet available. As is common in the Dominican Republic, we did lose power a couple times but the generators kicked in within minutes. The only negative were the hundreds of birds that roost on the hotel and wake you up around 5 am each morning. That was definitely a negative! Overall, highly recommended and we'll stay here again on our next trip.
“Nice hotel friendly staff”
Nice hotel. A short drive to beaches and old town. Nice pool and poolside bar. Staff very friendly. Some speak english which is convenient.
“Very Nice”
I have been to this hotel many times, and I have never had a negative experience. They always try to make your stay pleasant, and they always treat you with respect.
“An American in La Capital”
The hotel is something like probably Las Vegas was in the '50's. The rooms are adequate, the A/C seems to "just" work, But the restaurant, the pool, the lobby, the casino, the wonderful black-and-white photographs of old newspaper articles and pictures of Presidents and moviestars year past, you feel like you are in someplace, a hotel, that is truly Dominican, and still continues to be a haven for diplomats. Techinically, the Hilton, Holiday Inn, and Intercontinental are better. But, after 25 years here as an American, the Embassador is one of the most wonderful hotels I ever have stayed at. Not because they do anything right. But they make a perfect Margarita. The fancy restaurant is perfectly imperfectly wonderful. There is a reason all embassies here, save the stupid Americans, put up guests at the Embassador. The hotel is something genuinely Dominican and perfectly wonderful. It is almost like La Lupe and Dean Martin will casually nod at you in the elevator. If you are a tourist, go to Punta Cana. If you are interested in doing business in the D. R., stay at El Embajdor. It is their hotel, on thier soil, and a part of thier history.
“Very Nice Hotel, great staff, Good Location.”
if you looking for Good hotel in Santo Domingo Hotel Embajador is what you looking for. the staff very professional, great customer service. they even offer me any drink at the bar. most of the city atraction are very close from the hotel. I would definitive go back there.
“Will be my hotel of choice in the DR”
Great way to start day with a breakfast in the 8th floor overlooking the city and the caribean. Excellent food. Make sure to request a room with an ocean view.
“Very nice - best location in the city”
Stayed here for 5 nights for new years and was very impressed. Quality of everything is great, room was clean, lounge on 5th floor was nice and had a very good breakfast buffet. In terms of the location, the hotel is in one of the best residential areas of the city, 5 minutes walk to several good restaurants and stores, and 6 minute taxi ride to el Malecon and 10 minute taxi ride to the zona colonial
“One of Santo Domingo's Oldest, and Best Hotels”
This hotel is very nice. It's in a good location, away from the chaos of the city but still in a central part of the city. The pool is nice and they offer massages poolside, too. Staff is very friendly, as well. Rooms are clean and breakfast is excellent, too (can be included with room rate as an option).
