“Great value for the right price”
I stayed in Mathios Village in May 09. Despite of some mixed reviews I booked the hotel via Expedia as I liked the location and price. Also I liked Expedia hotel photos. And I tell you I was not disappointed a bit. This is a small family owned hotel in Akrotiri near famous Red Beach and within a working distance from another very nice small local beach. Home made food and house wine deserve much more than a simple complement. Try their homemade spinach pie, the best I ever tried. Breakfasts were simple but plentiful and tasty especially local yogurts with honey. Hotels stuff was very useful and polite. Rooms and property are spotless clean. Hotels two very clean wonderful swimming pools are one of its best features. The hotel owner is also a travel agent who conveniently (for us) arranged all our trips. Car rental can also be arranged directly at the hotel. Hotels food and other prices including travel arrangements are very comparable. We know it for sure as we checked I would definitely recommend this hotel for everyone who can appreciate great value for the right price
“Great view, Beutiful Grounds, Great Price!”
We had a great time staying here and found the owner to be extremely helpful and very nice. He set us up with an ATV four wheeler to get around the island and was there for anything that we needed. The grounds are beautiful and they have two pools which is nice. The restaurant is fairly priced and very good - would recommend eating there poolside at least once. The hotel is at the south end of the island which is beautiful, but much quieter. We loved staying out of tourist areas and used our ATV to go to the beaches, into town etc. Also, the rooms are modest - but clean and comfortable and each one has a balcony which is perfect for sunsets and wine. Hard to beat for the price and right across the street from one of the best Caldara views on the island. Would stay there again for sure.
“An enjoyable stay at a fabulous hotel”
My fiance and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Mathios Village. We found all the staff and especially the hotel owner very friendly and helpful. He provided some sound advice on sightseeing and getting around the entire island. We highly recommend this hotel to those couples needing to escape the daily hustle-n-bustle to enjoy a very peaceful and relaxing holiday soaking in the sun near the pool with your favourite book!
“Thoroughly Recommended”
I stayed here for one night and wished I had stayed for longer. The hotel is lovely, there is a gorgeous pool and outdoor facilities, the room was clean and in excellent condition and the staff were so helpful and friendly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
“peaceful oasis...great pools...great wine, food....enough said!”
We stayed here for 1 week in Aug/Sept 2010. The two pools were wonderful to hop into at the end of the day! Pools were clean and the bar area was great. We ate there each night - the 4 course meal was authentic greek cuisine. Many of the dishes were in the Greek cookbook that I purchased while over there. We chose to not rent a car, but were able to easily take the bus to Fira from where we walked to Inmerovigli for amazing views. We also easily took the bus to Oia. We walked to the Red Beach (30 minutes) and down to Caldera Beach (10 minutes) several times. Excellent location, will definately come back. Staff were wonderful and friendly - very much a family run hotel. Quiet and the air conditioning worked! Kostas the manager was helpful to arrange trips and answer questions.
“Nice Hotel”
Hotel Mathios Village was a lovely hotel in a pleasant setting. The room was spacious with a lounge area leading onto a little balcony with chairs where you could see the ocean. The bed was up in a loft. The Manager was more than willing to help with any tour bookings or car/bike hire
“Can't wait to go back, best hotel in Santorini”
I highly recommend this hotel and the friendly environment it provided. This hotel had all the amenities and a beautiful relaxing pool area. To add to our planning needs there was a travel agent on site to do all the bookings for spas, car, and any other places of interest on the island. I recommend this hotel to all those traveling to Santorini. There is on-site dining, with a very romantic feel. It is perfectly located on the island and close to all attractions that are of interest. Very friendly staff and always willing to recommend or reserve any needs for a stress free vacation or visit. I would recommend that you not miss out on checking in to this hotel before you plan your trip - you will be pleasantly pleased with yourself and have ever lasting memories!!
“Tanning by the pool... Ultimate relaxation!!”
This hotel was very pleasant to stay at and by far the best hotel I stayed at in my whole trip of Europe. To stay at this hotel you need to have a hire car. But, the owner of the hotel is a travel agent and to hire a car in Santorini through him is very cheap. The staff there were very friendly and always smiling. The pools are amazing to lie next to and to swim in. The hotel is also very easy on the eyes and anywhere in Santorini is less than 20 minutes drive away. I most definitely will be going back! Was very sad to leave.
“Jewel of Santorini”
I visited Santorini the first week of September. I read many really nice reviews for this hotel before I booked it and I have to say that everything they said was true. This hotel is excellent. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Mr. Kostas was the best. I asked for help renting a car and in less than 15 mins the car was waiting for me in the entrance. The pools, the church, the hotel itself is sooooo pretty. Exactly what you see in the pictures. The hotel is built in the style of a small island village. It is really amazing. The breakfast, which was included in the price, was really filling. I especially enjoyed the Merenda. The atmosphere of the hotel and the village that it is in is quiet and quite enjoyable. The hotel room itself was extremely clean. From the hotel I would recommend going to the Lighthouse were I promise you the sunset is the best. Red beach is also really close and it is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. The island is small but still I would highly recommend renting a car. Finally, let me say it once more... the hotel was great, the staff was so friendly and that is the reason I characterize it as the Jewel of Santorini.
“A very friendly hotel! - They work hard for you to maximize the enjoyment of your stay.”
What can I say - I thought this would be the only visit I would make to Santorini but because of the staff here I want to come back. Two pools, close proximity to beaches, good restaurant and bar where you will have the opportunity to make new friends. To recommend this hotel I will say two more things. During my 5 day stay I met Greek couples that say this Hotel is their preferred vacation destination and I would send or take my best friends here without hesitation.
