“A good Place to stay near UW”
I'd go back as the Inn was comfortable, affordable, and conveniently located near the University.
“Quaint hotel”
This quaint little hotel was perfect for our needs. The room was a perfect size, with a nice view. Breakfast was always excellent; an amazing selection. The only drawback was the shared bathrooms down the hall. But that was something that could be tolerated and the nice parts of the hotel far outweighed this aspect.
“convenient, minimalist, and true”
First, understand that this is a minimalist place to stay. There are no swimming pools, televisions, or private bathrooms. It's more like a bed and breakfast. Next, understand that if you have business with the University of Washington you are on the door step. The hotel can't get more convenient! Finally, I loved the feel of the place. I slept with the windows wide open, cool seattle night, sea gulls squawking, crazy guys yelling it up at three AM on the University Ave, all the sounds of the area, esp the gentle rain. Loved it. And before you hit the sack, wander up the ave for excellent food at dozens of hole-in-the-wall joints - a block away is the best bi-bim-bop you'll ever eat. Follow that up with a stop at the Big Time brewery and/or hit the bar in the basement. If you can't love this place then you already have one foot in the grave, dude!
“Nice combination of nostalgic thrift and modern comfort”
Dorm-style accomodations are roomy and private; service is friendly and people-oriented.
“Amazing experience with College Inn!”
I loved this inn because it was so homey! The sheets and bedding didn't smell like bleach, the hallway didn't smell like industrial cleaner, and the people were amazing! It felt extremely home-y and I was extremely satisfied with the place as a whole! The only problem I had was that the door to the inn isn't immediately obvious and the lobby is on the fourth floor, meaning you have to lug up all your stuff to the fourth floor before going to your room. However, I think the price and the quality of the inn more than make up for that!
“definitely returning”
We spent a week at The College Inn, and loved it. It was a quaint, European-style hotel, and our room was comfortable. The breakfast provided every day was a nice surprise...quite a selection and filling. The hotel furnishings were period related, to a degree. The only drawback was the shared bathroom down the hall. Just a little inconvenient at times. But overall, I would highly recommend The College Inn. We will definitely return.
“Great hotel for price!”
After reading the reviews previously posted, I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. It is "European Style" which may be an issue for some people, but it worked out great for us.
“If a close to campus location is what you seek...”
The College Inn is a welcoming and warm place to stay in the busy city. There is a secure outside door, friendly staff, and very clean and comfortable rooms. Breakfast is simple but filling and the building is full of character. History buffs will love this place, there are lots of old pictures from around this area hanging up. No smoke smell (as in other review), but main entryway smelled like the cafe next door (coffee and baked goods during the day).
“Bargain Gem for Non-Whiners”
The service at the College Inn was fantastic, but be aware that the office hours are very limited. I couldn't check in early due to their desk staffing schedule, but the concierge was very friendly and accommodating checking me in later in the evening since he'd missed me earlier. The room was spacious, clean, and the communal bathrooms were very well kept. Considering the location of the hotel, the rates, and the convenient bistro and bar housed in the College Inn building...this is a great find! A generous continental breakfast and the Wall Street Journal in the lounge ensured I'd stay there again.
“Gem of a Hotel”
The College Inn is a beautifully restored European style hotel near the heart of Seattle's University District. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Each room is equipped with a telephone and a sink. Shared separate men's and women's bathrooms are on each floor. It's often quite difficult to secure inexpensive accommodations in or near downtown Seattle, but if you're willing to share a bathroom, this hotel fits the bill beautifully!
