“Perfect escape”
Beautiful place - but be prepared for its slight quirkiness! Personally I think that was half of it's charm. As you pull up outside, please don't be put off by the nearby concrete factory!! The hotel is wonderfully well maintained. Spotless and extremely tasteful. The owners are really welcoming, but you'll have to experiment with various languages to make yourself understood! The service is truly first class. It's like having a butler! It's a stunning building full of original artwork and furniture. The bedrooms are amazing and a fantastic departure from normal hotel rooms. The pool is also fantastic. The village is small, but offers rustic charm and a warm reception. One restaurant, in particular, is excellent. It's a perfect venue for a break from the bustle of every day life. I will definitely go again.
“Lovely quiet Hotel, Tastefully furnished”
The hotel is an old Olive Farm which was bought as a ruin and renovated - beautifully! Even though it's near a busy road it's very peaceful and the grounds are lovely. If we go back to the Algarve will certainly revisit it.
“Perfect Escape”
The host is fantastic, very welcoming and accomodating.A very quiet, picturesque hotel pefectly situated in central Algarve. Large, clean rooms decorated in local style are set in the grounds of a hidden gem. The infinity swimming pool is fantastic, perfect for relaxing after a day on the beach. This is one of the nicest hotels i've ever stayed in.
“Would go back without hesitation”
Excellent stay. A quiet, beautiful hotel within easy striking distance of the beach, seaside towns and theme parks. The hotel owner, Oscar, is a real character!
“Very pleasant friendly hosptiality in lovely setting”
We had a lovely stay in Sept 2011. Very friendly hospitality from host Oscar. Nothing was too much trouble. Great continental breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh warm bread. Quiet setting within walled premises - a nicely renovated former manor house, with additional modern rooms in separate purpose built buildings in the gardens. Lovely clean presentation, comfortable, balconies overlooking gardens, plenty of parking within the grounds and close to local amenities. Easy access from main road and only five minutes drive from main Algarve motorway which runs to Faro to the East & Atlantic Coast to the West, so easy to get to & from airport. Plenty of character. Very happy to recommend
“Oasis of calm.”
A very friendly and relaxing environment. More of a feeling of being in Portugal than the over-developed centres like Albufiera and Portimao. Well worth visiting.
“Terrifically Tranquil”
We felt really lucky to find this lovely place after a last minute decision to go away. The hotel is beautifully kept and relaxing. The rooms were spacious, airy, well furnished and spotlessly clean. They all have either a good size balcony or patio overlooking the pool. Breakfast was great - a substantial, continental style affair. The few restaurants in Alcantarilha all did a good evening meal but it's only a short drive if you need a bit more choice. We hired a car and the hotel made a perfect base for exploring the western Algarve. Lovely beaches are close by as well. Oscar (the manager) is a great host...always on hand, smiling and knows all the best places to visit. In short, we can't recommend this place enough, especially if you're looking to avoid the big resort towns and enjoy a relaxing break.
“Excellent”
We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Rural, it is situated in a small village close to the A22 and is easy to find. By car, it is only ten minutes away from the beach; we found that many of the nearby beaches have spectacular cliffs and are free of touristy attractions. Oscar is the host and he is very friendly and helpful, his English is very good too. He could tell us all the best places to visit, including the Aldi shop across the street! He also warned us of the places to avoid. The hotel rooms are separate from the mansion house and are situated towards the rear of the grounds, looking out onto the gardens and pool. Each room is like an apartment; en-suite and with a private patio (great for drying swimming costumes and towels). The room facilities are fairly basic, but the rooms are immaculately clean and also have good air conditioning. We found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. The gardens and pool are lovely; the olive trees and lawns are well kept and the pool is clean and safe. (A word of warning; do not use the room towels by the pool!) There are plenty of sun loungers, parasols and books to help you relax by the pool. The hotel serves a continental style breakfast every morning which comprises; fresh fruit, breads, cakes, cheese, ham, cereal, yoghurt, freshly squeezed orange juice, tea and coffee. All in all, we found the hotel to have a very relaxing atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff in beautiful surroundings. We would certainly stay there again.
“worth more than 5 stars!!”
this was by far the nicest place we stayed in during our visit to Portugal. The host, Oskar was very warm and friendly.
“Beautiful hotel in a peaceful town”
We've just returned from five days staying at Capela Das Artes and had a wonderful time. The hotel is a beautifully renovated farm house with a lovely pool. The rooms are clean, simple and elegant. Oscar, the owner, is a great host, can't do enough for you. We didn't hire a car as we were after a holiday full of R & R, however the majority of the other guests did have a cars to explore a little further afield. The town of Alcantarilha itself is very small, almost a hamlet with around four restaurants. If we had stayed longer than five days then I think we would have considered hiring a car to do a bit of exploring but for a long weekend we were fine sitting around the pool during the day and heading into the town in the evenings. All in all, a beautiful hotel and lovely sleepy town perfect for a relaxing break in the sun.
