“Hidden gem”
It's tucked away on a street that at first doesn't seem promising, but this hotel knows good customer service. Free breakfast every morning, free wireless internet in rooms, access to coffee and tea in the lobby throughout the day, and a staff that is happy to help with requests such as recommendations to nearby places. The rooms are small but well-maintained.
“Excellent Place to Stay In Singapore!”
At the risk of letting out an obviously "best-kept secret", this renovated shophouse is a fantastic boutique hotel in a vibrant section of Little India. Reasonably priced, beautifully redone--we would stay here every time we come to Singapore.
“A gem in Little India”
We had a lovely room with unprompted daily linen change. The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful. The Perak is on the edge of little India and so is very convenient for taking in the sights and terrific food on offer. We were given a light complimentary breakfast each day, which really set us up for the forays into town.
“A Neat Place”
Great front-desk staff. Cosy atmosphere. Good Indian food nearby. Close to the subway.
“Quality budget hotel”
The rooms in this hotel are not large, and it is in a side street which may look a little untidy to those who have not been to Asia before. However, it is clean and just near an excellent shopping centre and also provides excellent service : my room was ready at 9 a.m. (by prior arrangement) on my arrival, and breakfast was also offered free on that morning although I had not paid for it. Breakfast is an all-you-can-eat affair with mostly basic Western food (unfortunately, in my view) such as toast and cereal. Internet and even a cable for connection are provided free in the rooms, which is also very helpful.
“great place to stay, great location”
This is a lovely hotel with a helpful staff. The rooms are small but neat and have gorgeous hardwood floors. The location is very convenient and safe and if you love Indian food, you'll be in heaven (as I was!). The breakfast is fine and it's served with a smile. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a quality budget option.
“Great location”
I plan to stay here next time I'm in Singapore. Being in Little India was fun and the staff were really nice and helpful. The internet was a little spotty though. I imagine that outside noise might be a problem in some rooms. There was an Indian night club near my room that I could hear a constant, muffled drumbeat until about 3 or 4 AM. It didn't keep me up though. The local mosque does start at 6:00 - and that's a little hard to miss. Since there are many mosques in Singapore, I'd guess that's probably a common problem.
“Delightful”
Great little hotel. If yoy are looking for a break from the chrome and plastic palaces and want something with a bit of character, the Perak is the place for you. The staff is very friendly and most helpful. I'll definitely stay there again!
“Good value for money”
Better than a backpackers, basic, but good service and breakfast included.
“I would definitely return to this hotel!”
The hotel is small and staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was relaxed and children were made very welcome. The room was really clean and comfortable with air conditioning. The hotel is extremely conveniently located for buses and the MRT (Metro service) and the public transport system itself is excellent. The hotel is situated in Little India, an area which is buzzing with culture. There are numerous excellent places to eat out too, at most reasonable prices. Great value for money all round.
