“Great place to stay in Tunisia”
Very friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful place to stay along the Mediterranean. Good value.
“Solymar Hotel Review”
Friendly service but some staff were not too helpful in terms of arranging taxis, meaning we had to walk towards the main road to try to hail one. The air conditioning was faulty and they said they would send out an engineer to fix it, but it still did not do its job. On the plus side, we loved the beach and the warm Mediterranean sea, and the sunsets were amazing
“Not Impressed”
This Hotel is very far from Tunis. And lacks basic amenities no fridge no proper shower,tv,telephone, locker basically its for a person who is on a very tight budget and just needs to sleep, and too many mosquitoes i would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.
“Would not recommend”
Lovely view of the beach from my room. Watched the sunset everyday. Pool clean. Long journey to Tunis but were given good directions from the receptionist. Only one speaks English so if you are hopeless at French or Arabic, you may have problems. The room was clean on arrival but there seems to be a lack housekeepers. Came back at 4pm and the room hadn't been done yet and I had to be disturbed. Breakfast is the EXACT (honestly!) same meal everyday and after 2 weeks, I was sick of looking at the same pieces of fake salami, madeira cake, boiled egg and bread. On a positive note, the waiter who served the breakfast was a lovely old man- we couldn't communicate language wise but he was very warm and welcoming. Dinner was mediocre- without exaggeration, 4 days out of 7 it was pasta with the EXACT same bland sauce which seasoning did nothing for and when it wasn't pasta, it was rice or couscous in the very same sauce or chips. I was beginning to think I was in Italy. The waiter was the same man every night. He was ok to begin with but when we refused to buy any drinks from the hotel, he displayed a poor attitude- if looks could kill! When we sat at the table, there is normally a serviette and cutlery but on 2 occasions, serviettes were not present. The first time, he gave us a couple but on the second time, he had the cheek to rip one in half and split it between the two of us!! Another thing which annoyed me was that the table cloths were almost never changed. Would never go back
“Sadest hotel on earth”
If you are booking this hotel you have made a serious mistake. The hotel rooms and facilities (other than pool and beach) are run down, sad, in need of paint, flooring, bedding, tile, atmosphere... you name it. They also claim to accept Expedia reservations but in fact do not, nor do they accept credit cards eventhough they claim to at reception. On top of this, if you are self driving you will find this place almost impossible to find and the surrounding countryside/towns equally as depressing. Tunisia is a beautiful and fantastic country, don't book here and ruin your holiday.
“Not impressed at first but then we were ok”
The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere so at first we started to get worried but as soon as we arrived at the hotel and saw the beach there was a sigh of relief, it was male dominated and we also witnessed local prostitutes using this hotel. The service in the hotel was ok, communicating with them was hard due to no one speaking english and the food/drinks was over priced. Due to Ramadan, there was little food, but it looked like the same food for the whole week. The kitchen was very dirty, the restaurant was unclean, there was dead flies in the food etc There was a lot of mosquitoes, beetles and cockroaches in the hotel The best feature of this hotel is that is the 2 mins walk from the beach, and this is the most beautiful scene you can ever imagine, we watched the sun set every day and were woken up by the beautiful sun shine. This is definitely a nice get away for couples only due to being male dominated. There is a supermarket in Borj Cedria where we bought our weekly shopping a kept it in the room, this made life a lot easier for us.
“not empressed”
as i arrived at the reception and asked the receptionist to chek in he asked me my reservation paper, i said i coud n0t have a print out for the reason there was no ink at that time. i asked if he can see the arrival list for confirmation. my booking was behind him. he insist that i come back to do the print out with him, i said ok. he then gave me the key n0 13a.i took my laguage and went off to my family.after a week or so i suggested to my relatives to go to solymar hotel beach,i asked if i can hire/have some chaires it was impossible. after a specified time you have to go to the back door bar to get a drink even so i have not to walk through the reception? i sat round the s pool put 2 bottles of beers under the table to avoid any problems.a barman saw that and asked me why you doing that? i answer it seems that i am steeling here. where ever i go it is chut in front of me.big disopointment.no professionalism at all.
