“enjoyable stay”
My favourite thing about this hotel is that I found the bed to be soooo comfortable that I slept like a baby! We didn't use the bar or leisure facilities so can't comment on them. In my opinion this hotel is worth the 4 stars. The hotel's location is great for the outlet shopping complex and close enough for a drive into the Peak District. I will definitely book again if in the area.
“Expensive small dog supplement !!!”
On arrival member of staff on reception quite hostile Very expensive supplement for a minature Schnauzer Dog !!! £30.00 !! Not mentioned when booking on line !! Would definitely not have booked otherwise !!! All staff uniforms very worn both in the restaurant and reception this poor appearence made them look unprofessional before they even approached you
“Four star hotel which is correctly rated”
The location of the hotel is ideal, situated just off the motorway. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The leisure complex was good but the changing rooms would have benefited from a good clean, although to be fair, we only used it towards the end of the day. The breakfasts were very good and dinner was also very nice and good vfm. Wine was a bit over-priced starting from about £20 a bottle! All in all, we would be very happy to recommend the Derbyshire Hotel to anyone and will probably stay there again. The bedroom was hot which meant that we needed to open the window to control the temperature and being so close to the motorway meant that we could (just) hear the traffic (not loud enough to disturb sleep however - and I am a light sleeper!)
“clean, convenient well run hotel. Not a character place but very good of its type.”
this hotel certainly served its purpose for us as we needed to be in the area for a family occasion. Near to the motorway, but not too noisy, the hotel seemed to be well looked after and the staff were efficient and friendly. Apart from a cracked wash basin, the room was well appointed and very comfortable. Leisure facilities in good order - quiet and adequate. Did not try the food, Nice bedding plants and baskets were appreciated.
“would definitely use this hotel again”
Arrived early at the hotel, checked whether rooms were available, which they were. No problems with check in, straight to rooms which were very well presented, clean and tidy. Stayed at the Hotel all day using the facilities which were also extended to my family who came to visit us from nottingham. The restaurant had reserved a table for 11 adults and 3 children, one of whom required a high chair. The tablewas only set up for 12 in total but this was quickly amended and even with such a big party the service was excellent. Breakfast was excellent, although buffet service the food was regularly replenished and there was sufficient to keep you going all day if you felt like having a big breakfast. The only problem we had was leaving the hotel and getting back to the M1 motorway. We had no problem getting from the motorway on arrival but on leaving you went onto a one way system that then sent you away from the motorway and there was very little in the way of roadsigns to tell you how to get to the M1 from the Hotel. As we were not from the area a note at reception with a map could have helped greatly. Other than that we had an excellent weekend.
“The Derbyshire Hotel - a thumbs up!”
I have to say that after booking the hotel and then reading the reviews - it was with some trepidation that we went along. The hotel from the outside looks a bit dark and foreboding (but hey it is winter!) however on walking through the front door the reception area was beautiful - clean and bright. We had a very spacious double room on the first floor, comfortable and clean with plenty of storage space and a fridge! The bathroom was spacious and very clean and if I was to say anything negative it would be that the furniture was a wee bit dated and the TV's picture was not brilliant - but hey if that's all then there is not much to complain about. The pool and spa area at night was lovely - very clean and romantically lit and we enjoyed a very relaxing couple of hours there. The staff we met were friendly and helpful and we had a lovely cooked buffet breakfast. Good distance from the Outlet Village - literally 5 mins in the car and across the road from a Beefeater pub. All in all a def. 4 out of 5 !
“Overall good with some negatives”
The hotel has a steam room, sauna, pool, and gym. They have a very good breakfast buffet as part of your room cost, but it is only a buffet if they have enough guests. Otherwise it is to your order, but you can only order once. The channels on the tv are limited and the internet is $30 to use per day. The dinners there are not that good and way over priced. The hotel is a little older and it feels that way. If you are not going use the facilities like the gym and pool I would stay at the Dakota. It's cheaper and newer.
“Ok if you are not mobility impaired”
Disappointing that hotel did not have a lift- I am not wheelchair bound but have mobility problems and the stairs were a real problem. Staff were polite but no solutions offered. Decided the have a meal in the restaurant- most of the vegatarian options were not available- ended up having what the chef wanted me to have (what he/she had precooked) and not really what I wanted. Looked forward to using the spa facilities- cold pool (technical issues) and more steps. I didn't think hotels could get away with being so disabled unfriendly in this day and age. sad
