“Attention to detail”
Stayed a day and night whilst attending my niece's wedding which was being held at the hotel. We were greeted at the door and signposted to reception were we were met be a very polite and efficient receptionist. Both our rooms were clean, comfortable and we even had a choice of pillows (hard or soft). The wedding ceremony was held in one of the hotel rooms which was beautifully decorated. Robert, the Hotel's Wedding Organiser kept everyone informed. After the ceremony we were escorted downstairs into the bar/reception area where drinks were waiting for us. Robert once again kept everyone upto date to what was happening ie photo session and what time the wedding breakfast was being served. The wedding breakfast was extremely tasty, not plentiful but very tasty. Once again the hotel's wedding orgainser (it was another person at this stage) was very proficient and assisted everyone in delivering their speeches etc. We were then escorted back into the bar/reception area whilst staff re-arranged the wedding room to accommodate evening guests. All staff when approached dealt with queries efficiently and with genuine helpfullness - whilst everyone danced until the wee small hours we went back to our room and had a very comfortable nights sleep. We chose not to have breakfast as my husband had to attend work but my mum and I had a very leisurely morning at the hotel as arrangements had been made for us to stay until midday. One critiscism was made re the price of drinks.
“Great stay, cheaper than city centre but still convenient for Sheffield”
Clean hotel; pleasant stay; nice pool, sauna and steam room; food served in bar area was delicious (thai green curry & goats cheese pizza); staff all very welcoming; plenty of choice for breakfast (self serve); hair dryer didn't work but quickly sorted. We stayed here to go to Sheffield Arena event - cost only £6.40 in a taxi; on way home we were travelling back from Sheffield city centre and that cost us just £14.
“Average hotel but first class sports facilities”
I'd actually fogotten what a CRT tv looked like until last week. Time for a general upgrade to the rooms I think is needed here. The hotel is fine, nothing special but ok. Booked for the sports equipment which was probably the best I have seen at a hotel. The Gym was decent sized and all the equipment was very good and up to date. The pool was (for once) a really decent size where you can actually swim and the steam/sauna was very good. Unusual one as well, I got charged a service fee for ordering food from the menu which I found a bit odd.
“Tired hotel with poor food”
Staff were good but food was awful. The room was very noisy due to road outside. The bar had stained and ripped furniture.
